The Senior Financial Analyst will be a key member of the finance team, providing analytical and decision-support assistance to the CFO and VP, Accounting & Tax. This role will support corporate planning, acquisitions and divestitures, capital allocation, commodity risk management, and operational performance analysis for a growing offshore oil and gas company. The position offers broad exposure to executive-level decision-making, strategic finance, lender and ownership reporting, and upstream oil and gas operations.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in corporate finance, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), investment banking, energy finance, or a related analytical role, with strong financial modeling skills and an interest in the upstream energy sector.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Modeling & Analysis
  • Build and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, capital investment decisions, financing initiatives, liquidity planning, and strategic planning.
  • Analyze operational and financial performance against budget, forecast, and historical trends.
  • Support economic evaluations of drilling, development, production, acquisition, divestiture, and joint venture opportunities.
  • Prepare scenario and sensitivity analyses related to commodity prices, production volumes, operating costs, capital expenditures, and financing assumptions.
Corporate Planning & Forecasting
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, long-range strategic plans, monthly forecasts, and recurring management reporting packages.
  • Analyze key upstream oil and gas operating metrics, including production volumes, realized pricing, LOE, transportation, G&A, capital expenditures, workover activity, operating downtime, and well/field-level economics.
  • Identify and explain budget-to-actual variances across production, revenue, operating expenses, and capital spending.
  • Support cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, KPI reporting, and data-driven analytical tools.
Strategic & Corporate Finance
  • Support acquisition, divestiture, and joint venture evaluations, including asset-level valuation, scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and due diligence support.
  • Support lender reporting, borrowing base analyses, debt compliance tracking, liquidity planning, and financing-related analyses.
  • Assist with special projects related to growth initiatives, capital allocation, corporate strategy, and operational performance improvement.
Executive Support & Reporting
  • Prepare presentations, financial reports, board materials, lender materials, and ownership reporting packages for executive leadership.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial, operational, and strategic analyses for the CFO and VP, Accounting & Tax, including variance explanations, account-level trend analysis, audit support, financing analyses, and management reporting.
  • Handle confidential financial and strategic information with discretion, accuracy, and sound judgment.
Commodity Hedging & Risk Management
  • Assist the CFO in evaluating and executing crude oil and natural gas hedging strategies.
  • Analyze commodity market trends and their impact on company cash flows, profitability, liquidity, and risk profile.
  • Support hedge-related reporting, scenario analysis, and executive-level decision materials.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in corporate finance, FP&A, investment banking, energy finance, transaction advisory, or a related analytical role.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities, with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex financial and operational information clearly.
  • Ability to work directly with senior executives, manage confidential information, and handle multiple priorities with limited supervision.
Preferred
  • Experience in upstream oil and gas, offshore E&P, energy banking, reserve-based lending, energy private equity, or energy-focused corporate finance.
  • Familiarity with reserve reports, production forecasts, decline curves, PV-10/NAV concepts, proved reserve classifications, and upstream operating metrics.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, or other data analytics and dashboarding tools.
  • Understanding of commodity hedging, lender reporting, borrowing base processes, or oil and gas valuation concepts.
