El Camino Health Medical Network is recruiting a Temporary Medical Assistant for our El Camino Health Primary Care and Multi-Specialty Care outpatient practices located in Santa Clara County.
Pay: $32.00/hour
Location: Mountain View, CA
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (Temp)

The Medical Assistant (MA) works under the direction of licensed medical providers; performs patient care and clerical duties to assist with implementing the plan of care and contributes to the overall patient experience and satisfaction. Responsibilities include reviewing and preparation of patient charts, rooming patients, taking and recording vital signs, performing EKGs, and collecting specimens. Additionally, the MA will update the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) with patients’ information, answer telephone calls, schedule appointments, and obtain authorizations.
Essential Functions:
- Assists physicians with patient visits which include rooming and interviewing patients, taking and recording vital signs to include height and weight, documenting medications, and entering the information in the patients’ electronic medical record (EMR).
- Prepares and reviews patients’ EMR at least 72 hours prior to patients’ appointment. Reviews EMR entries for completeness ensuring all required information is included
- Prepares exam rooms, including general cleaning and maintenance, and re-stocking of supplies
- Performs administrative tasks such as form completions, prescription refills, referrals (i.e., coordinating with insurance companies and other healthcare providers) and explanation of patient educational material.
- Scans all pertinent information into the EMR
- Models WeCare principles
Performs all other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities.
Additional Performance Expectations
- Contributions to the overall patient experience and satisfaction
- Participates in performance improvement activities and daily huddles
- Adheres to HR, safety, HIPAA and compliance policies, and attendance requirements
- Completes annual health screening and online training modules.
- Performs work in accordance with established schedules, policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified from an accredited Medical Assistant program from one of the following:
- AAMA– American Association of Medical Assistants
- CCBMA – California Certifying Board of Medical Assistants
- AMT – American Medical Technologists Certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- Current CPR/BLS Certification – approved vendors: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC)
- Experience working with an EMR (EPIC preferred)
- Ability to accurately type a minimum of 40 WPM
- Strong verbal and written communications, and active listening skills
- Solid patient/guest relations skills with the ability to communicate in a professional, courteous and efficient manner
- Legible handwriting
- Ability to accurately perform basic math
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks to complete assignments within the time allotted to maintain standard workflow
- Ability to work effectively as a team member who is flexible, cooperative and willing to assist others
