Job Description

Senior Data Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer in Ireland.

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape the data foundation of a fast-scaling climate-tech and energy software environment. You will play a central role in building and evolving a modern data platform that powers critical products focused on energy flexibility, forecasting, and real-time device orchestration. Working closely with data science, engineering, and commercial teams, you will ensure that data is reliable, accessible, and production-ready across multiple business use cases. The role combines hands-on engineering with architectural thinking, giving you ownership over how data is structured, delivered, and trusted across the organization. You will contribute directly to both product performance and strategic decision-making in a mission-driven, fast-moving environment. This position is ideal for a senior engineer who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building scalable systems, and wants meaningful impact on the energy transition.

Accountabilities:
  • Own and evolve end-to-end data pipelines and datasets that support critical product features, including forecasting, flexibility optimization, billing, and analytics use cases.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data infrastructure, ensuring high data quality, availability, and performance across the platform.
  • Improve and modernize the data platform architecture, tooling, and engineering practices to support long-term scalability and reliability.
  • Implement robust data quality frameworks, including testing, monitoring, anomaly detection, and data lineage practices.
  • Enable self-serve analytics by designing well-structured, well-documented datasets that support business, product, and leadership insights.
  • Collaborate closely with data science and engineering teams to support feature pipelines, model readiness, and production deployment of data-driven solutions.
  • Contribute to forecasting and analytics initiatives by ensuring high-quality, well-prepared datasets for time-series and energy-related use cases.
  • Evaluate and drive technical decisions around data stack, tooling, and architecture, balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related roles within production environments.
  • Strong expertise in SQL, data modelling, and building scalable data pipelines in modern data stacks.
  • Hands-on experience with data warehouse and ELT tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Airbyte, or similar technologies.
  • Proven ability to design and operate reliable, production-grade data systems with strong focus on data quality and observability.
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets, event-driven data, or time-series/forecasting use cases is highly valuable.
  • Strong engineering mindset with ability to balance pragmatism, delivery speed, and long-term scalability.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and define priorities in a highly autonomous environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data problems into clear, actionable solutions for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with data governance, analytics enablement, or cost-efficient warehouse design is a plus.
  • Interest in AI-assisted development workflows or applied machine learning environments is considered an advantage.
  • Exposure to energy, climate tech, or flexibility/energy markets is a strong plus.
Benefits:
  • Opportunity to join a mission-driven climate-tech company shaping the future of energy systems.
  • Fully remote-first setup within Europe, with optional access to Oslo office or co-working support.
  • Competitive compensation package with attractive employee equity/option program.
  • Flexible, human-first working culture focused on autonomy and impact.
  • Three annual company off-sites in international locations.
  • Home office setup stipend to support remote work comfort and productivity.
  • High-growth environment with strong technical ownership and real product impact.
  • Inclusive, collaborative team culture with strong emphasis on learning and experimentation.
