Job Description

Cloud Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Cloud Engineer in Canada.

This role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure engineering and high-end creative production workflows, supporting some of the most advanced media and entertainment environments in the world. You will design, deploy, and optimize cloud-based production systems that power rendering, simulation, and collaborative content creation for film, television, and gaming studios. The position requires strong technical depth across AWS cloud services, Linux systems, and automation tools, combined with the ability to translate complex creative requirements into scalable technical solutions. You will work directly with artists, production teams, and technical stakeholders to build high-performance environments that enable seamless creative output. A key part of the role involves integrating render farm technologies and managing cross-platform workflows across Windows, macOS, and Linux. This is a highly collaborative, client-facing engineering role where your work directly enables world-class creative production at scale.

Accountabilities:
  • Engage directly with clients to understand VFX and media production workflows and identify opportunities to optimize performance and scalability in cloud environments.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud-based production infrastructure supporting rendering, collaboration, storage, and artist workstations.
  • Integrate and support render management systems such as Deadline to improve efficiency and scalability of distributed rendering pipelines.
  • Implement secure and high-performance cloud networking solutions, including VPNs, bastion hosts, and remote access architectures.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and operations using tools such as Ansible and other infrastructure-as-code frameworks.
  • Support filesystem architecture, NAS solutions, and scalable storage systems for high-volume media workflows.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues across rendering pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and cross-platform environments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to translate customer needs into robust technical implementations.

Requirements:

  • 3–6+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure roles, ideally within media, entertainment, or high-performance computing environments.
  • Strong proficiency in AWS services including EC2, networking, FSx, and related cloud infrastructure components.
  • Advanced Linux skills, including strong command-line proficiency across multiple distributions.
  • Experience working with render farms and pipeline tools such as Deadline is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with creative production tools such as Maya, Nuke, Houdini, or Cinema 4D is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, secure access patterns, VPNs, and cloud security best practices.
  • Experience with automation and scripting using Python, Bash, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work directly with clients to design and implement tailored technical solutions.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation aligned with cloud engineering and media technology roles in Canada.
  • Fully remote work flexibility within Canada.
  • Opportunity to work with leading global media, film, and gaming studios.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge cloud production workflows and high-performance computing environments.
  • Strong technical ownership and autonomy in client-facing engineering projects.
  • Collaborative, innovation-driven environment focused on solving complex creative and technical challenges.
  • Continuous learning opportunities in cloud architecture, media pipelines, and automation technologies.
