Job Description
The Facilities and Maintenance Assistant reports directly to the Director of maintenance and is responsible for managing select aspects of facilities upkeep, maintenance, custodial work, and transportation to support the school. This is a full-time position, primarily Monday-Friday role although in rare circumstances, the employee will be required to work evenings or weekends as needed.
Facilities Upkeep
- Assist in the upkeep of all Eden Buildings and grounds
- Receive and execute planned maintenance and repairs at the direction of the Director of Maintenance
- Assist in the planning and execution of facilities upgrades, aesthetic improvement, and preventative maintenance
- Assist in repairs and troubleshooting of issues that arise on a daily basis
- Responsible for salting and shoveling sidewalks during inclement weather
- Be familiar and comfortable diagnosing and repairing the mechanical and electrical systems within the school, knowing when to prioritize outside assistance
- Assist in grounds maintenance including lawn care, mulch, weeding, and landscaping for Eden owned properties
Custodial Work
- Maintain a vigilant attitude to removing trash, debris, or misplaced items from Eden campuses
- Assists the Director of Maintenance to ensure that custodial supplies are always available at each campus
Finance
- Responsible for maintaining a strict record of receipts, gas in any Eden vehicle, and mileage of any Eden vehicle.
- Maintain a mindful awareness of the cost of projects, consumables, and materials within their role and make decisions that balance maintaining control of costs and achieving necessary results
Communication
- Maintain communication with all necessary parties through the Maintenance ticketing system
- Maintain professional communication with Eden staff and leadership through phone and email
- Maintain a calm, professional, and courteous demeanor at all times being respectful of fellow Eden employees, parents, students, and community members.
Events
- Setup for school/community events, graduation, professional development, athletic banquets and other events, as needed
- Assist with tear down and clean up
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
Requirements:Physical Requirements to Fulfill the Essential Functions of this Job
• Prolonger periods of standing, moving and engaging in physically demanding work
• Move about classroom, gym facilities, fields.
• Have the ability to quickly summon help when an emergency arises.
• Climb the stairs to reach the classrooms/offices on the higher floors at all campuses.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at time
Qualifications
• Have a mature relationship with Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior and be active in an evangelical church.
• Be a Christ-like model for students in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40)
• Be supportive of the school's mission and doctrinal statements.
• Acceptable PA DOE employment clearances dated within one year: FBI Fingerprint/ Act 114 Federal
Criminal Background Check (Identogo Service Code 1KG6TR), Act 151 State Child Abuse Background
Report, and Act 34 PA State Police Background Clearance
• High school diploma or GED required
• Have 3-5 years’ experience in facilities management, contracting, or custodial experience, preferably in scholastic settings.
• Exemplary written and spoken communication skills
• Strong collaboration skills; able to work well with a team and take direction
• Effective multitasker; can prioritize tasks based on importance and deadlines
