Responsibilities
This position supports the Outpatient Cardiopulmonary Clinic and Nuclear Medicine.
The Cardiac Stress Test RN provides professional nursing support and service for patients, functioning with a high degree of knowledge, skill and experience in cardiovascular care that is applied to achieve optimal outcomes through critical analysis, problem solving and decision making. The primary role of the Cardiac Stress Test RN is to supervise the administration of cardiac stress testing. Cardiac Stress test includes Exercise ECG Testing, Stress Echocardiography and Stress Radionuclide Cardiac Imaging
To be successful in this role, the Cardiac Stress Test RN must:
- Competent performance of exercise testing requires significant cognitive knowledge and understanding of cardiac disease states. This includes knowledge of but not limited to: cardiovascular and exercise physiology, including hemodynamic response to exercise, appropriate indications, alternate physiological cardiovascular test, prompt recognition and response to complications.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with health care team members across multiple disciplines and departments (i.e., nursing, rehab, pharmacy, imaging, ED, etc.)
- Prioritize work and effectively manage time with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
Education:
- As required by licensure. BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred. BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO.
Experience:
3-5 years of expertise in the care of patients with cardiovascular disease required in one of the following areas: progressive care, critical care, emergency department, or cardiac cath lab. Experience must demonstrate advanced knowledge of cardiac disease, the cardiovascular and pulmonary system as well as independent thinking, clinical judgement and ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
Skills:
- Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community.
- Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
