Accountabilities:
  • Conduct in-depth legal, business, and intellectual property research using a wide range of legal and non-legal databases to support client needs.
  • Perform structured reference interviews to clarify research objectives and deliver concise, actionable findings tailored to attorney requirements.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate research tools and sources based on accuracy, relevance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Leverage specialized IP and legal platforms such as Darts-IP, LexisNexis TotalPatent One, Derwent Innovation, USPTO databases, Saegis, Lexis, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, PACER, and Lex Machina.
  • Manage research requests through tracking systems, ensuring timely delivery, proper documentation, and workflow organization.
  • Stay current with developments in legal research, intellectual property trends, and industry best practices through continuous professional learning.
  • Support knowledge sharing and contribute to a high-performing, service-oriented research environment.
Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent professional experience in legal or intellectual property research; Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
  • 5–7 years of experience in legal research within a law firm, academic law library, special library, or research-focused organization.
  • Strong expertise in legal and business research platforms, including Lexis, Westlaw, and related databases.
  • Proven experience conducting intellectual property research across patents, trademarks, copyrights, and litigation analytics.
  • Familiarity with global IP filings, prosecution histories, and IP analytics tools is highly desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong client-service orientation and ability to present complex findings clearly.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and effective in both independent and collaborative team environments.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote work flexibility across the United States.
  • Opportunity to work on high-value intellectual property matters for leading legal clients.
  • Exposure to advanced legal research tools and specialized IP intelligence platforms.
  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and expertise.
  • Professional development opportunities and involvement in legal research communities and associations.
  • Collaborative, expert-driven environment within a globally integrated organization.
  • Strong emphasis on learning, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
