Minimum Qualifications:

Job Description:

Reporting to the institutional Marketing, Communications and Business Development Office, this role supports the university's strategic priorities by employing a broad range of communications, media relations and marketing skills to inform and engage internal and/or external audiences. This role plays a key part in advancing awareness of UTMB and its mission areas as well as driving clinical business to UTMB physicians, hospitals and other health care services. Position will collaborate with internal teams as well as university programs and department stakeholders. Position includes direct communication with target audiences, as well as activities that facilitate communication by the President and other university executives, as well as programs and departments.

Job Duties:

Note: Specific job functions for an individual employee in this role depend on concentration area of position (e.g., Media Relations, Internal/Corporate Communications, Marketing, Digital Communications).
  • Helps develop and execute SHP's social media presence and content and assists in managing the school's and department's social media accounts.
  • Identifies, seeks, and/or produces engaging and timely content.
  • Uses tools to track, monitor, analyze, and report on social media data.
  • Develops media pitches and addresses media inquiries, coordinates interviews, etc.
  • Organization of appropriate photos for external use - photo database creation, labeling, maintenance - to ensure ads and branding are of high quality.
  • Ensures quality control regarding the review of SHP Dean communications and presentations - works with Manager and other departments to safeguard all communications, videos, presentations, etc. are high quality and represent the Dean and UTMB effectively.
  • Supports marketing and communications for SHP events (live and virtual), including promotional content, attendee communications and social media coverage.
  • Coordinates logistics and administrative tasks associated with marketing and communications projects.
  • Assists in establishing and attaining goals and objectives.
  • Conducts special projects and reports.

Marginal or Periodic Functions:
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
  • Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong interviewing and fact-finding skills.
  • Experience in the development and execution of integrated marketing and communications plans.
  • Exhibits clear knowledge of marketing and communications tools, including digital, print, direct mail, new media, outdoor, television, radio.
  • Experience tracking, analyzing and reporting results of marketing/social media campaigns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Collaborative.
  • Ability to work effectively and directly with people at all levels.
  • Experience operating professional video cameras and related production equipment.
  • Ability to plan, shoot and edit high-quality video content for digital and social media platforms.
  • Proficient use of the Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft PowerPoint and other content creation tools.


Schedule:

Onsite, and after training, 1 day remote.

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience.
