Job Description
Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.
Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.
Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.
We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.
About the Role
Most legal roles ask you to follow the playbook. At Rippling, we want you to write it. We’re building the engine that powers workforce management worldwide, and our Legal & Compliance team is right at the center of that growth. We’re small, mighty, and fast-moving. We’re looking for a sharp, process-minded Legal & Compliance Ops Associate to build critical legal infrastructure, manage complex regulatory landscapes, and keep our expansion running smoothly. If you want an environment with high ownership, and direct impact on how a multi-billion-dollar startup scales, this is it.
You won’t just be maintaining systems, you’ll be designing them from scratch. Standardizing procedures, solving operational bottlenecks, and serving as the primary owner of our regulatory licensing footprint.
- Drive Licensing & Expansion: Own end-to-end execution, applications, and renewals for regulatory licenses, with a heavy focus on our rapidly growing Insurance and Travel products.
- Build Ops Infrastructure: Turn complex, manual compliance requirements into streamlined, scalable processes. Track, report, and continuously optimize how we stay compliant across all markets.
- Author the Playbooks: Create, organize, and maintain clean, reliable documentation for critical regulatory processes.
- Manage Stakeholder Relationships: Serve as the direct point of contact for internal teams and external bodies, including state insurance, and travel regulators.
- Tackle Uncharted Territory: Step up to lead special legal and compliance projects as new challenges and opportunities emerge.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in paralegal work, legal operations, or a dedicated compliance role.
- Relentless attention to detail: You notice the small things before they become big problems.
- Mastery over chaos: Exceptional project management and organizational skills, you know how to prioritize, track, and execute across multiple moving parts.
- An entrepreneurial edge: You are a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, works hard, and figure things out without needing a step-by-step guide.
- Sense of humor: Legal compliance is serious work, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
