In this role, you will take ownership of complex engineering initiatives, guiding technical decisions and delivering scalable solutions across the platform. You will contribute to system architecture, improve engineering practices, and help teams solve challenging technical problems while maintaining high standards for reliability, security, and performance.

• Own features, systems architecture, and technical initiatives from initial problem definition through production delivery, with impact across multiple teams.
• Design and build backend services, APIs, data processing workflows, integrations, and customer-facing product capabilities.
• Define technical direction and architectural standards that enable engineering teams to build reliable and scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, security specialists, and engineers to translate customer needs into effective software solutions.
• Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, observability, and operational efficiency while identifying potential risks before they become incidents.
• Make strategic technical decisions, clearly communicate trade-offs, and influence stakeholders across engineering and business teams.
• Raise engineering standards through code reviews, technical documentation, design discussions, and mentorship of other engineers.
• Lead investigations into complex production issues and drive long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes.
• Promote responsible adoption of AI-powered engineering tools while ensuring quality, security, and maintainability.
• Support the development of engineering practices that encourage ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced software engineer with a strong background in designing scalable systems and leading technical initiatives across teams. You should combine strong programming expertise with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence engineering strategy without relying on formal authority.

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a demonstrated progression in technical scope, ownership, and impact.
• Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Python, Go, TypeScript, or SQL.
• Proven experience building backend services, APIs, distributed systems, data processing workflows, or large-scale production applications.
• Deep understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including performance optimization and scalability considerations.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, including architecture, reliability, and cost trade-offs.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, streaming systems, or related technologies such as Kafka and Redis.
• Strong understanding of system design, security principles, reliability engineering, and operational best practices.
• Ability to define technical strategy and lead complex cross-functional initiatives involving multiple teams.
• Excellent communication skills with experience collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with observability and monitoring solutions such as Grafana, Prometheus, or similar tools is preferred.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment tools such as GitLab CI/CD is a plus.
• Experience with distributed systems, high-throughput data processing, SaaS platforms, identity, security, or data protection is highly valued.
• Experience mentoring engineers and improving engineering practices within teams.
• Ability to effectively use AI-assisted development tools, evaluate AI-generated outputs, and apply AI concepts responsibly in engineering workflows.
• Understanding of AI/ML concepts such as LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, inference, and evaluation is preferred.
