Senior Data Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Engineer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to design and build scalable data solutions that support critical business decisions and digital transformation initiatives.
The Senior Data Engineer will develop advanced data pipelines, integrations, and architectures that enable analytics, reporting, and machine learning capabilities.
You will collaborate with product, data science, application, and analytics teams to solve complex data challenges.
The position combines technical expertise, innovation, and strategic thinking to improve data quality, reliability, and accessibility.
You will contribute to enterprise-level data platforms while mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data infrastructure while ensuring data accuracy, performance, and scalability. The role requires close collaboration with technical and business stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions that support analytics and operational needs.

  • Design and implement scalable data architectures, pipelines, integrations, and data models to support analytics and business intelligence initiatives.
  • Build and maintain complex batch and real-time data pipelines using modern big data processing frameworks.
  • Develop data integrations, APIs, streaming solutions, and application data workflows to support business and engineering needs.
  • Cleanse, standardize, map, and transform data from multiple sources to create reliable datasets.
  • Perform data validation, quality assurance, and automated testing to maintain high standards of data integrity.
  • Monitor and optimize existing data pipelines, troubleshooting production issues and improving system performance.
  • Design and implement data quality monitoring solutions aligned with business requirements and service-level expectations.
  • Contribute to data architecture, security, scalability, reliability, and performance improvements.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Application Engineering, and Analytics teams to define requirements and resolve technical challenges.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Create technical documentation, training materials, and standards to support team knowledge sharing.
  • Conduct peer code reviews and mentor junior data engineers through technical guidance and best practices.
  • Support the adoption of new technologies and contribute to improvements in engineering tools, processes, and standards.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced data engineering professional with strong technical skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams. They should be comfortable designing large-scale data solutions and solving complex problems in dynamic environments.

  • Experience in data engineering, working with large-scale data environments and mission-critical systems.
  • Experience with modern data architectures, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data mesh concepts.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles, architecture patterns, and analytics platform design.
  • Experience developing and maintaining complex data pipelines, integrations, and data processing solutions.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence, analytics, reporting, and application integration practices.
  • Strong coding skills and understanding of software development standards and design principles.
  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies and Lean Startup practices.
  • Ability to manage ambiguous projects, prioritize effectively, and deliver solutions with limited information.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams and stakeholders across multiple locations.
  • Willingness and ability to learn emerging technologies and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Ability to provide mentorship and support to less experienced engineers.
  • Related degree, formal training, certification, or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts is a plus.
