About The Role

The Documentation Specialist is responsible for transforming engineering drawings, product information, and technical inputs into clear, accurate, and professionally formatted documentation that supports Acoufelt’s product lines. This role works closely with Engineering, Product Design, Product Management, and other internal teams to create specification sheets, installation guides, technical documents, and supporting materials used by customers, architects, designers, installers, and internal teams.

This position requires a strong blend of technical understanding, technical writing, graphic design, and document layout skills. The Documentation Specialist must be able to interpret engineering drawings and product details, understand architectural product specification requirements, and translate complex technical information into easy-to-use documentation that aligns with Acoufelt’s templates, standards, and brand expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain product specification sheets, installation guides, technical documents, and other support materials for Acoufelt product lines.
  • Translate engineering drawings, CAD outputs, product data, and technical inputs into clear, accurate, customer-facing documentation.
  • Use approved templates and brand standards to produce polished, consistent, and easy-to-use documents.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product Design, Product Management, Design, and Marketing teams to gather information, confirm accuracy, and support product documentation needs.
  • Interpret product drawings, dimensions, materials, finishes, installation requirements, and other technical details to ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Create, edit, or format diagrams, tables, callouts, illustrations, and supporting visuals to improve clarity and usability.
  • Support documentation for new product launches, product updates, and ongoing product line maintenance.
  • Maintain organized documentation files, templates, source files, and revision history.
  • Ensure released documentation reflects current product information, approved standards, and architectural specification requirements.
  • Recommend improvements to documentation templates, processes, and standards to improve consistency, efficiency, and customer usability.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to explain complex product and installation information clearly.
  • Strong graphic design and document layout skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product drawings, dimensions, and technical information.
  • Experience creating specification sheets, installation guides, technical manuals, product literature, or similar documentation.
  • Understanding of architectural products, building materials, interior products, or specification-driven product documentation preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to organize information clearly and visually.
  • Proficiency with design and documentation software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Microsoft Office, and/or similar tools.
  • Experience working with CAD exports, technical drawings, diagrams, or engineering documentation preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple documentation projects and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional product development environment.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Technical Communication, Technical Writing, Industrial Design, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent experience in technical documentation, product documentation, architectural product literature, or graphic communication may also be considered.
