POSITION SUMMARY

The University of Massachusetts Foundation is seeking an experienced NetSuite Implementation Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of its NetSuite ERP implementation. This is a critical role within the Finance team, responsible for managing all aspects of the project lifecycle — from requirements gathering and vendor coordination to user training and go-live support. The ideal candidate brings deep NetSuite expertise, a strong background in nonprofit financial operations, and a proven ability to manage complex technology projects in a mission-driven environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead end-to-end NetSuite ERP implementation, serving as the primary point of contact between the Foundation, implementation partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, timelines, budgets, risk registers, and status reports
  • Coordinate and facilitate requirements gathering sessions with Finance, IT, and operational staff to ensure the system is configured to meet organizational needs
  • Manage relationships with NetSuite implementation consultants and third-party vendors, holding them accountable to scope, schedule, and quality standards
  • Oversee data migration activities, including validation and reconciliation of financial data
  • Design and execute user acceptance testing (UAT) plans in collaboration with functional stakeholders
  • Develop change management strategies and lead end-user training programs to drive adoption
  • Identify and escalate project risks and issues, proactively developing mitigation plans
  • Provide regular project status updates to the Controller and senior leadership
  • Ensure post-go-live stabilization and support, including issue resolution and optimization
  • Document system configurations, workflows, and standard operating procedures

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
  • NetSuite certification (e.g., NetSuite ERP Consultant, SuiteFoundation, Administrator, or equivalent) —required
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience, with at least 2 years leading ERP implementations
  • Demonstrated experience working within nonprofit organizations, with a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, fund accounting, and compliance requirements —required
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies (PMP certification or equivalent experience preferred)
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with endowment management, investment accounting, or foundation finance operations — strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with higher education foundation or public university environments
  • Experience with NetSuite modules relevant to nonprofit or higher education finance (e.g., Fund Accounting, Grant Management, Fixed Assets)
  • Prior experience with data migration, systems integrations, or business process reengineering

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The University of Massachusetts Foundation offers a competitive salary in the range of $90,000 – $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This range reflects the Massachusetts market for certified NetSuite implementation professionals with nonprofit expertise. A comprehensive benefits package is included:

  • Employer-sponsored retirement plan with matching contributions
  • Generous paid time off and paid holidays
  • Professional development and continuing education support
  • Flexible hybrid work arrangements
