What You’ll Do

As a Financial Aid Advisor, you will serve as a trusted resource and primary point of contact for students and families by:

• Serving as a primary point of contact for students and families with questions about financial aid and funding their education
• Counseling students through the financial aid process, from FAFSA completion through awarding and disbursement
• Conducting individual appointments, workshops, phone calls, email communications, and virtual advising sessions
• Building supportive relationships with students by listening to their questions, understanding their circumstances, and providing clear, timely guidance
• Reviewing and analyzing financial aid applications to determine eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid
• Managing verification files, resolving discrepancies, and submitting required corrections
• Awarding and adjusting financial aid packages in compliance with all applicable regulations and university policies
• Evaluating special and unusual circumstances with sound judgment, empathy, and attention to detail
• Collaborating across departments to support enrollment, persistence, retention, and student satisfaction
• Presenting at orientations, information sessions, and student forums
• Supporting exit counseling for students who withdraw or graduate
• Contributing to team initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, and university events

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who leads with service, communicates clearly, values precision, and genuinely enjoys helping students navigate complex information.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2–3 years of experience in financial aid, student advising, higher education, or a related student-facing environment
• Experience working directly with students and families in a financial aid setting strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of Title IV financial aid regulations
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
