Business Development Lead, AI Services

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Development Lead, AI Services based in Canada.

This is a high-impact business development role focused on building a new pipeline for AI services from the ground up.
You will identify, engage, qualify, and convert new prospects interested in practical AI solutions for their businesses.
The portfolio spans AI readiness and adoption assessments, AI search strategy, executive training, custom AI agents, and automation projects.
You will own the sales cycle for smaller engagements while collaborating with senior leaders on larger and more complex opportunities.
The role combines commercial ownership with enough technical curiosity to confidently discuss web, applications, and emerging AI technologies.
Working remotely and independently, you will help establish the outbound sales infrastructure, qualification process, and follow-up discipline for a growing AI practice.
Success will be measured through pipeline development, revenue performance, sales execution, and the credibility you establish with prospective clients.

Accountabilities
  • Build and manage a qualified net-new business development pipeline, with clear responsibility for achieving defined revenue targets.

  • Prospect proactively across relevant markets and industries to identify organizations that could benefit from AI services.

  • Own outreach activities, lead qualification, discovery conversations, follow-up, and closing for smaller AI service engagements.

  • Develop and implement a scalable outbound sales engine, including prospecting processes, qualification criteria, CRM discipline, and follow-up workflows.

  • Diagnose client needs and identify opportunities involving AI readiness assessments, adoption frameworks, AI search strategy, training, custom agents, automation, and related services.

  • Engage confidently with business and marketing leaders, including senior stakeholders such as CMOs, to understand their challenges and connect them with appropriate AI solutions.

  • Clearly communicate the business value and potential applications of AI services without relying on scripted presentations.

  • Collaborate with senior team members and technical experts when opportunities require deeper technical expertise or strategic input.

  • Support major client bids and larger opportunities when requested, contributing commercial insight and business development expertise.

  • Maintain accurate pipeline visibility, track opportunities through the sales cycle, and establish consistent follow-up practices.

  • Continuously refine prospecting strategies, messaging, qualification methods, and sales processes based on market feedback and results.

  • Stay informed about AI tools, emerging technologies, web development, applications, and evolving customer needs to maintain commercial credibility.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience building a business development or sales pipeline from zero, with a track record of personally generating and converting net-new opportunities.

  • Strong consultative selling skills, with the ability to diagnose business challenges and identify where emerging technologies can create value.

  • Experience selling technology, digital, software, AI, web, application, marketing, consulting, or other complex professional services is highly relevant.

  • Sufficient understanding of web development and applications to engage credibly in conversations with prospective clients and recognize when technical specialists should be involved.

  • Genuine curiosity about artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, with an active interest in experimenting with and understanding AI tools.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, particularly when discussing unfamiliar or complex solutions with senior business stakeholders.

  • Ability to sell solutions that may require educating prospects and translating technical concepts into clear business outcomes.

  • Demonstrated ambition, initiative, resilience, and commercial drive, with the ability to pursue opportunities proactively.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, with the discipline to manage a pipeline independently and maintain consistent sales activity.

  • Ability to work autonomously across time zones and operate effectively in a remote environment without close day-to-day supervision.

  • Comfortable working in an evolving organization where processes, offerings, and sales infrastructure are still being developed.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders, technical experts, and other cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Willingness to take ownership, experiment, learn quickly, and continuously improve the sales approach.

Benefits
  • Fully remote work opportunity for candidates based in Canada.

  • Full-time position focused on a growing AI and emerging technologies practice.

  • Significant ownership and autonomy in building a new business development function and outbound sales engine.

  • Opportunity to work directly with senior team members and contribute to major client opportunities.

  • Exposure to a diverse range of AI services, including AI readiness, adoption, search strategy, training, custom agents, and automation.

  • Potential for the role and responsibilities to grow alongside the success and development of the AI practice.

  • Opportunity to work in a collaborative environment that values curiosity, innovation, imagination, and continuous learning.

  • Inclusive workplace committed to creating an environment where people across diverse backgrounds and identities feel welcome and represented.

  • Opportunity to contribute to an emerging and rapidly evolving area of technology and business transformation.
