This is an opportunity to build high-performance systems at the intersection of software engineering, advertising technology, machine learning, and real-time decisioning.
You will work within a programmatic bidding environment that processes billions of ad auctions and delivers decisions at millisecond latency.
The role combines backend engineering, distributed systems, quantitative analysis, and applied machine learning to solve complex performance challenges.
You will collaborate closely with engineers, ML specialists, Product teams, and other technical stakeholders to develop scalable and innovative solutions.
Your work will directly influence bidding efficiency, platform performance, customer outcomes, and the evolution of real-time advertising technology.
The environment values experimentation, rigorous analysis, pragmatic decision-making, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
This role is well suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys tackling highly scalable systems and turning complex technical problems into measurable business impact.
- Lead and collaborate with engineers to design, build, optimize, and evolve large-scale programmatic bidding systems.
- Apply analytical, statistical, and data-driven methodologies to solve complex engineering and performance challenges.
- Continuously experiment with and optimize programmatic bidding performance using quantitative analysis and measurable outcomes.
- Partner with machine learning engineers to architect and implement innovative solutions that combine applied ML with high-performance engineering.
- Design and optimize distributed systems capable of handling extremely high request volumes while maintaining millisecond-level latency, throughput, reliability, and infrastructure efficiency.
- Build and improve scalable microservices and backend systems supporting core areas of the programmatic advertising pipeline.
- Collaborate with Product teams to deliver innovative capabilities that strengthen platform performance and customer outcomes.
- Make pragmatic, results-oriented engineering decisions while adapting development approaches to evolving technical and business requirements.
- Promote operational excellence across backend and engineering teams by encouraging technical rigor, transparency, trust, and continuous improvement.
- Communicate technical ideas, hypotheses, trade-offs, and proposed solutions clearly while actively incorporating feedback from engineering and cross-functional partners.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, including significant experience building high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems, scalable microservices, or large-scale data pipelines.
- 3+ years of experience in AdTech or MarTech, ideally within high-scale or performance-critical environments.
- Advanced programming expertise in Go, or strong proficiency in comparable languages such as C++, Java, Scala, or Rust.
- Experience applying machine learning, mathematics, and numerical methods to production engineering problems, including deploying large-scale models and real-time inference systems.
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, particularly data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience working with multiple database technologies and understanding their performance characteristics and trade-offs.
- Experience designing and operating scalable backend systems under demanding workloads and latency requirements.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills, with an ability to use experimentation and data to guide engineering decisions.
- Curiosity about modern technologies, tools, frameworks, and emerging approaches, combined with a willingness to continuously learn and adapt.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, machine learning, Product, and other technical teams.
- Bonus experience or interest in computational graphics, GPU programming, game development, game theory, or financial trading systems.
- U.S. base salary range of $160,000–$220,000 USD, with final compensation determined by experience, technical skills, knowledge, abilities, education, certifications, location, organizational needs, and budget considerations.
- Potential eligibility for additional compensation, including annual bonuses, commissions, and equity awards, depending on the role and employment terms.
- Comprehensive benefits package, with offerings varying according to country and employment arrangement.
