Discipleship Coordinator in Port St. Lucie, Florida at Calvary Port St Lucie Inc

General Purpose:

The Discipleship Coordinator exists to cultivate intentional, Christ-centered environments where every person—from attender to committed member—feels welcomed, connected, and guided into spiritual growth. This role ensures that involvement in the church leads to meaningful engagement, authentic community, and clear next steps in discipleship, ultimately helping individuals live fully devoted lives to the Lord.

Essential Job Functions:

Leadership & Team Development

• Assist Senior Director in recruiting, training, and developing leaders, facilitators, and volunteers for classes and groups.
• Come alongside leaders to foster healthy, multiplying discipleship environments
• Partner with Senior Director of Discipleship in coaching, encouragement, and ongoing development for group and class leaders.
• Cultivate a culture of relational discipleship, accountability, and spiritual growth.

Discipleship Environments

• Assist Senior Director of Discipleship in the management of the adult discipleship environments within the church.
• Manage systems for launching, sustaining, and multiplying healthy groups.
• Manage online platform where Discipleship Environments are posted, and work with discipleship to ensure information is correct and up to date.
• Ensure groups are accessible, welcoming, and aligned with the church’s discipleship vision.
• Support group leaders through training, resources, and ongoing care.

Discipleship Pathway Integration

• Partner with the Senior Director of Discipleship to align classes and groups within the overall discipleship pathway.
• Collaborate with the Director of Assimilation to ensure smooth transitions into groups and classes.
• Create clear entry points and next steps for individuals at every stage of their faith journey.

Systems & Processes

• Develop and maintain systems for registration, tracking participation, and measuring engagement.
• Monitor effectiveness of classes and groups and implement improvements as needed.
• Ensure consistent communication and organization across all discipleship environments.
• Assist in the management of workflows within the department’s oversight.

Collaboration & Communication

• Partner with other departments to integrate discipleship opportunities across ministries.
• Work with the Communications team to promote classes and groups.
• Ensure clear, consistent messaging about discipleship opportunities.

Baptism and Communion

• Oversee, coordinate, and manage routine baptism experiences for church attendees who decide to take the next step to be baptized.
• Coordinate with elders and ministry leaders to ensure that members are interviewed, cleared, and registered to be baptized.
• Partner with the operations team to ensure smooth baptism experiences during weekend gatherings, as well as annual offsite baptism events.
• Report baptism data to Senior Director for Discipleship and leadership teams as needed.
• Partner with Guest Experiences team to ensure that communion experiences for the church are prepared and that systems are in place.
• Purchase baptism and communion supplies for all Calvary PSL campuses and keep trying of inventory.

Special Events

• Partner with Senior Director of Discipleship in the planning, development, and execution of special events within the department’s oversight, which include but are not limited to spiritual formation trips, conferences and guest speakers, group connect events, on-campus discipleship experiences, and leader training and appreciation events.
• Provide administrative support to the department in the purchasing of materials, development of registrations, recruitment of volunteers, and calling those who express interest in participating.
• Work closely with events teams bringing the vision of events to fruition
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Professional Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in discipleship, small groups, or ministry leadership.
• Proven ability to lead and develop leaders and volunteers.
• Experience leading and participating in discipleship environments.
• Strong organizational, communication, and relational skills.
• Ability to build systems while maintaining a relational ministry approach.

What You Are Required to Know:

• We are an EEO employer.
• This is a full-time (40 hours/week) hourly non-exempt position.
• This role requires presence during weekend services, classes, group gatherings, leadership trainings, and church-wide events, along with regular office hours and team meetings.
