This role leads the governance of AI solutions and cloud platforms across a complex, highly regulated technology environment.
You’ll establish frameworks, policies, standards, and controls that promote responsible AI use while enabling innovation and business value.
The position combines AI risk management, cloud governance, cybersecurity, privacy, regulatory compliance, and technology oversight.
You’ll work closely with Legal, Enterprise Risk Management, Privacy, Security, Architecture, Data Science, Engineering, Product, and business teams.
A key focus will be embedding effective governance into existing software development and MLOps processes rather than creating unnecessary barriers to delivery.
You’ll also help strengthen audit readiness, vendor oversight, resilience, and regulatory alignment as AI and cloud technologies continue to evolve.
The role offers an opportunity to shape enterprise-wide technology governance while working in a collaborative, flexible hybrid environment.

• Design and maintain an enterprise AI governance framework covering responsible and ethical AI principles, model lifecycle governance, agent monitoring, risk assessments, approvals, and accountability.

• Develop and maintain AI policies, standards, and guidelines addressing acceptable use, transparency, explainability, risk classification, and related governance requirements.

• Establish an engagement model and controls to ensure AI initiatives are identified, captured, assessed, and assigned appropriate risk ratings.

• Identify and assess AI-related risks, including bias and fairness, privacy and data misuse, security vulnerabilities, hallucinations, and model drift.

• Maintain an AI inventory or model register and map identified risks to appropriate controls, KRIs, remediation actions, and escalation requirements.

• Monitor evolving AI regulations, standards, and industry frameworks, including OSFI Guidelines such as E-23, NIST, and CIS v8, and assess their implications for governance practices.

• Ensure AI use cases and vendors align with applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, security, privacy, and risk obligations.

• Support AI governance audit readiness through documentation, evidence collection, attestations, and ongoing control oversight.

• Serve as a central coordination point across Legal, Enterprise Risk Management, Privacy, Security, Architecture, Data Science, Engineering, Product, and business stakeholders.

• Embed governance checkpoints into existing SDLC and MLOps processes so that risk management is integrated into delivery rather than functioning as a separate approval gate.

• Define and maintain cloud governance standards covering account and subscription management, data residency and sovereignty, encryption, logging, monitoring, and key control alignment.

• Promote consistent implementation of cloud guardrails across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.

• Oversee cloud control alignment with security and risk frameworks, including COBIT and CIS v8, as well as business continuity and resilience requirements.

• Partner with cloud security teams to ensure risks are identified, documented, assessed, and appropriately treated rather than bypassed for delivery speed.

• Support vendor due diligence, contractual requirements, and ongoing risk oversight for AI and cloud services.

• Bachelor’s degree, diploma, certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

• 10+ years of professional experience working in a technology environment.

• Strong understanding of the evolving AI landscape and modern cloud environments.

• Demonstrated knowledge of AI governance, technology risk, cloud controls, cybersecurity, privacy, or related governance disciplines.

• Ability to assess the risks and business impact associated with changes to mission-critical applications and technology environments.

• Familiarity with relevant governance and security frameworks, such as NIST, CIS v8, and COBIT, is valuable.

• Understanding of regulatory considerations affecting AI, cloud, data, and technology risk is important; experience with OSFI guidance is an asset.

• Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across technology, risk, legal, security, data, product, and business functions.

• Proficiency with information systems and software, combined with strong analytical, organizational, documentation, and communication skills.

• Basic knowledge of insurance, business, and technical environments is an asset, with Property & Casualty insurance experience particularly valuable.

• Ability to balance governance and risk management with innovation, business priorities, and practical technology delivery.

• Strong judgment, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for coordinating governance across a complex organization.

• Flexible hybrid working model, with the opportunity to work from home up to 2 days per week and additional flexibility when needed.

• Competitive base salary of $128,000–$177,000 CAD, with actual compensation depending on experience, skills, and alignment with the role.
