The Quality Inspection Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and management of the Quality Inspection team with regards to quality, safety, efficiency, and consistent high level of quality inspection of customer units. Facilitates the daily activities related to the inspection functions and provides leadership and motivation to achieve the desired level of quality and delivery to internal and external customers. U.S. citizenship required. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a government security clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise Quality Inspectors in inspection and quality control procedures regarding purchased material, in-process material and finished products to assure that quality control standards are achieved.
- Supports the organization’s goal of improving manufacturing quality and efficiency by conducting or assigning inspections, assessing the results and the manufacturing process, and proposing improvements based on the findings.
- Develop and maintain systems to report results and findings to superiors and stakeholders.
- Monitors inspection costs and continually seek areas and processes that can be streamlined to produce cost savings.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements new inspection equipment or techniques that could improve efficiency and quality.
- Participates in daily stand-up meetings and coordinates with Quality Inspectors, Planners, and Operations to ensure manufacturing issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
- Owns and reports on direct labor utilization (DLU) and overtime (OT) of inspection team.
- Addresses all necessary quality related tasks accurately, following established written procedures.
- Maintain documentation regarding quality related tasks.
- Responsible for making sure that all equipment used for product acceptance is calibrated.
- Facilitate and ensures the team meet safety requirements and keeps area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Provides a strong floor presence and understanding of the processes adequate to set the example for others to follow.
- Regularly collaborates with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Customer representatives, as well as other internal/external partners
- Complies with and ensures department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policies.
- Participate in personnel performance appraisals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to interpret schematics, drawings or work instructions
- Electronics production & manufacturing experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and best practices.
- Understanding of the Root Cause Corrective action process
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- Extensive knowledge of inspection and testing principles and techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must possess excellent customer service/relations skills.
- Ability to function in a successful team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with demonstrated skills as a quality supervisor.
- Solid experience and understanding of IPC, J-STD, and Mil-Spec inspection methods
- Hands-on knowledge and use of various inspection equipment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and ERP
- Active IPC-610 and IPC-620 experience certifications preferred
- FAA Inspection Experience preferred
Education: Two-year technical degree or equivalent.
Security: U.S. citizenship required. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a government security clearance.
