Job Description
Position Title: Coach, SmartLife
Reports To: Manager, SmartLife
I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities
The Coach, SmartLife will play a key role in changing the lives of Canadians who are blind or partially sighted by improving independence at home, work, school and play through in-person consultations, solution path training and recommendation of SmartLife retail products. This role will be key in working alongside management and the broader CNIB technology team to develop solutions and strategies for Canadians living with sight loss to promote independence in every aspect of their lives. As a Coach, SmartLife, you will assist in actively supporting potential and current clients through drop-ins, appointments and organized virtual and in-person workshops held regularly through the CNIB Centres to expose clients to the possibilities with modern-day accessible technologies.
II. Essential FunctionsThe position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships with participants to understand their needs and provide personalized technology solutions.
- Manage daily operations, including participant inquiries, consultations, payment transactions, inventory, and order fulfillment.
- Assist participants with navigating the SmartLife e-commerce website and accessing technology solutions.
- Coordinate and deliver workshops, demonstrations, and one-on-one coaching to support participant learning and use of accessible technology.
- Handles incoming calls from clients and the general public regarding products and services
- Educate participants about current and emerging accessible technologies through hands-on and virtual sessions.
- Maintain accurate records and data in internal systems and databases.
- Recruit, engage, and lead an integrated workforce of students, volunteers, etc.
- Represent CNIB SmartLife at regional accessible tech events and tradeshows.
- Provide administrative support as needed
III. Qualifications
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in accessibility and adaptive technology, with a strong knowledge of related hardware and software.
- Sales and customer service expertise in accessibility services.
- Proven organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
- Creative, solution-oriented, and adaptable to change.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Shopify POS, and Salesforce.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a flexible, agile environment
Experience and Education
- 3 years in program development, customer service, or program management within a charity/not-for-profit organization.
- Experience in training individuals with vision loss on adaptive technologies.
- Personal or professional experience with blindness or vision loss is an asset.
Work Environment
- Primary location: Toronto Bayview SmartLife Centre (Onsite)
- Moderate travel may be required.
