PD Patient Escort at RWJBarnabas Health – Jersey CIty, New Jersey

Job Overview:

Under the supervision of the Patient Transport Department Manager, the Patient Escort safely transports patients throughout the hospital from admission to discharge.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Must obtain BLS-CPR within the first three months of employment in this position and maintain it
• Successful completion of general and department specific orientation
• Must have excellent customer service skills

Preferred:

• GED or High School Diploma

• Hospital patient transport experience

Scheduling Requirements

• Per Diem (position minimum four shifts in a month, one weekend, and rotating holidays

Essential Functions:

• As a Transporter, you are an integral part of the patient care team
• The Transporter position transports patients within the hospital network via stretcher or wheelchair, to and from patient care and treatment areas in a safe and efficient manner
• Transporters will assist with patient's positioning and mobility
• A transporter must be able to communicate well with the patient to assure a positive experience
• The transporter will perform all other duties as assigned running errands, linen exchange, and the cleaning of equipment
• The transporter plays a key role in patient care and patient safety:
• Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments, i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas, medical errors, etc.,
