Alamo History Interpreter at Alamo Trust, Inc – SAN ANTONIO, Texas

The Alamo History Interpreter provides interpretation of the Alamo site and its over 300 years of history through guided tours, history talks and other interpretive platforms. Candidates for this position are required to successfully complete a training program to become subject matter experts in Alamo history, as well as training in interpretive method. Candidates should be well-spoken, outgoing individuals who enjoy conversing with visitors who wish to learn more about our history.

Study and master the history of the Alamo (training program provided)

Develop and master a general tour of the Alamo

Develop specialized tours for specific groups or specific dates/events

Provide educational and entertaining tours of the Alamo for visitors

Work with Alamo Interpretation leadership in developing new and engaging experiences

Provide tours for students of all ages focusing on grade-level standards

High school diploma required

Experience in public speaking/history interpretation preferred. Fluent Spanish language skills.

Outgoing personality with ability to speak to the public

Ability to collaborate with other educators and museum staff

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to lead two or three hour-long walking tours per shift and conduct additional educational programs throughout the day
