Nurse Intern 2 - Nursing Education

1. Position Summary:

Assists professional nursing staff by performing specific patient care tasks, within the scope of practice for Nurse Intern.

1. Qualifications:

A. Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of 2nd semester of nursing (or its equivalent) and enrollment in 3rdor 4thsemester of nursing at an accredited college or university.
B. Training and Experience:

1. Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association upon hire or transfer to department.
2. Completion of the following competencies per instruction and agreement (not allowed to complete shaded areas until graduation and GN permit achieved)
3. Demonstrate Nursing Process elements within 3 months of hire or transfer:

5. Diagnosis
6. Planning
7. Intervention
8. Evaluation
9. Complete the following competencies within 3 months of hire or transfer:
10. Unit Orientation
11. Unit Safety
12. Attendance requirements
13. Appropriate documentation and chart review
14. Demonstrate effective time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
15. Technical skills accuracy including equipment use
16. Appropriate Delegation
17. Age-specific Care
18. Professional Communication
19. Body Substance Isolation
20. Participation in Code Blue
21. Assist with proper patient preparation (diagnostic studies, peri-operative, reinforce patient teaching)
22. Obtains medication from automated dispensing system. Does not administer medications
23. IV Therapy (may start IV only)
24. Restraint Training
