Job Summary:
The Summer Law Clerk role is a structured, mentorship‑heavy training position for law students interested in personal injury practice. Clerks will support both the pre‑litigation and litigation teams, gaining exposure to the full life cycle of a case—from intake and liability/damages investigations through discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation—while building the skills needed for future Pre‑Litigation Attorney or Litigation Associate roles at the firm.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Assist attorneys with legal research and concise written work (e.g., short memos, draft sections of pleadings, motions, and discovery) under close supervision.
· Support pre litigation case development by helping organize liability and damages evidence, reviewing intake materials, and preparing basic medical or case summaries.
· Help organize and summarize key documents-such as medical records, deposition transcripts, and discovery responses-for use in case evaluation, mediation, and trial preparation.
· Provide general litigation support as opportunities arise, including helping with written discovery, e discovery organization, and preparation of exhibit lists and notebooks.
· Observe and, when appropriate, assist in hearings, mediations, depositions, and client meetings to gain practical insight into plaintiff side personal injury practice.
Qualifications:
· Current 1L or 2L in good standing at an ABA accredited law school.
· Strong legal research and writing skills, with attention to detail and willingness to learn plaintiff side personal injury practice.
· High level of organization and time management to support multiple active files without dropping deadlines.
· Empathy, professionalism, and excellent client facing communication; Spanish fluency is a plus given our South Texas client base.

Learning and Mentorship:
· Direct mentorship from Pre-Litigation and Trial Attorneys with regular feedback on research and drafting.
· Structured exposure to both pre suit strategy (investigation, medical build up, demand and negotiation) and litigation practice (discovery, motions, trial prep).
· Opportunities to observe depositions, mediations, and hearings when scheduling and confidentiality allow.
· Outstanding summer clerks may be considered for future employment opportunities with the firm following graduation and bar admission.
Schedule and Compensation:
· Full time for 6 or 8 weeks during the summer
· Onsite at our main office
