Sr Mgr, Compensation

Accountabilities:

The Sr Manager, Compensation will lead the development, execution, and ongoing management of compensation programs, including salary structures, incentive programs, job architecture, and pay practices. This role will serve as a strategic advisor to HR partners and business leaders, ensuring compensation decisions are data-driven, compliant, and aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Lead the design, implementation, and administration of compensation programs, including base pay structures, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, and job leveling frameworks.
  • Partner with HR business partners and business leaders to evaluate roles, conduct market pricing, and ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Manage annual compensation cycles, including merit increases, promotions, salary reviews, and bonus calculations.
  • Provide strategic guidance and thought leadership on compensation philosophy, market trends, and best practices.
  • Ensure compensation programs comply with applicable wage and hour laws, pay equity requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and maintain job descriptions, job codes, and classification frameworks in collaboration with HR and legal teams.
  • Advise and train HR teams and leaders on compensation policies, processes, and pay decisions.
  • Analyze compensation data, benchmarking insights, and market trends to support business recommendations.
  • Manage and mentor compensation professionals, overseeing priorities, project execution, and quality of deliverables.
  • Support compensation-related projects that improve processes, systems, and organizational effectiveness.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced compensation professional with strong analytical capabilities, strategic judgment, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. You should have a deep understanding of compensation principles, market practices, and regulatory requirements, along with experience leading compensation initiatives in complex organizations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive compensation experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation design, job evaluation methodologies, market benchmarking, and pay structures.
  • Experience managing compensation programs, annual review cycles, and incentive strategies.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex compensation concepts clearly and influence senior leaders.
  • Strong understanding of wage and hour regulations, pay equity principles, and FLSA classification standards.
  • Experience building effective partnerships across HR, Finance, and business teams.
  • Advanced Excel modeling skills and experience with compensation survey tools such as WTW, Mercer, or Radford.
  • Experience with HRIS and compensation management platforms such as Workday Advanced Compensation, Payscale, or PayFactors.
  • Experience designing incentive, bonus, or sales compensation programs is preferred.
