What you’ll do
CrossBoundary is recruiting a full-time Financial Accountant who will ensure that the business is operating effectively and efficiently. Main responsibilities will include managing accounting records, evaluating, and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, publishing financial statements, overseeing accounting operations, analyzing financial data, monitoring expenditure, forecasting revenue, coordinating auditing processes, and ensuring accuracy of financial information.

Your primary responsibilities would be:

  • Responsible for end-to-end financial reporting - monthly/quarterly closings, financial statement preparation, general ledger, fixed assets, AR/AP, and financial and statutory audits
  • Ensure accurate transaction recording and coding in Sage X3
  • Perform bank, intercompany, and account reconciliations; monitor accounts to ensure payments are current
  • Prepare Group consolidated accounts and IFRS financial statements
  • Prepare, review, and approve tax returns and local tax submissions
  • Oversee in-country accountants to ensure timely, accurate local accounts and reviews
  • Manage monthly invoicing and weekly payment runs
  • Maintain the asset register and prepare payroll
  • Support external auditors during the annual audit
  • Assist with new entity setup, bank account openings, and related administrative/operational tasks
  • Provide ad hoc support to the broader team

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance 
  • Certified public accountant (CPA, K) or ACCA qualification 
  • 3 –4 years’ post qualifying experience 
  • Self-starter who is passionate about creating lasting change in underserved markets
  • Takes on new types of work, even without prior experience/direct supervision
  • Willingness to work, travel, and live in a sometimes-challenging environment
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and an ability to operate effectively in a changing context
  • Build strong relationships with clients and colleagues in stressful environments
  • Excellent presentation skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences

Location

Candidates will join our team in either Cape Town, Nairobi or Mauritius.
