Job Description
Encorus Group is currently seeking full-time Construction Materials Testing Technicians to join our established West Seneca, NY office. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in hands-on field work, construction inspection, and materials testing with opportunities for paid training, industry certifications, mentorship, and long-term career growth within a growing engineering and testing firm.
As a Construction Materials Testing Technician, you will perform field and laboratory testing and inspection of construction materials including concrete, soils, asphalt, and masonry at active construction sites and within Encorus Group’s accredited testing laboratory. Your work will play an important role in ensuring quality, safety, and compliance on projects across a variety of industries.
This position also provides opportunities to assist our Nondestructive Examination (NDE) team with field and laboratory inspection activities, specialized equipment testing, and maintenance of testing equipment and facilities, offering additional hands-on technical experience and exposure to multiple service areas within the company.

As a Construction Materials Testing Technician, you will perform field and laboratory testing and inspection of construction materials including concrete, soils, asphalt, and masonry at active construction sites and within Encorus Group’s accredited testing laboratory. Your work will play an important role in ensuring quality, safety, and compliance on projects across a variety of industries.
This position also provides opportunities to assist our Nondestructive Examination (NDE) team with field and laboratory inspection activities, specialized equipment testing, and maintenance of testing equipment and facilities, offering additional hands-on technical experience and exposure to multiple service areas within the company.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct field inspections at construction sites to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Test physical properties of materials like concrete, soil, and asphalt.
- Examine test samples, interpret blueprints, schematics, and measuring instruments.
- Evaluate and review test and construction data with supervisors, reporting findings to engineers and other laboratory personnel.
- Collect soil and construction material samples in the field; perform laboratory testing as required.
- Set up and adapt test equipment based on data sheets and instructions from engineering department personnel.
- Perform various tests on construction materials using advanced materials-testing equipment.
- Inspect asphalt and concrete batch plants, ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Record and report test results, performing necessary mathematical calculation.
- Utilize computer software including tablets, computers and cell phones for documentation and communication purposes.
- Maintain accurate records of testing procedures, results, and equipment calibration.
- Assist with Senior NDE inspectors with inspections on an as needed basis.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to obtain certifications from ACI, NICET, ICC, and AWS, and maintain them as directed by the company.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in field environments and active construction sites.
- Comfortable working in varying environmental and weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate a motor vehicle for field testing and inspections
- Willingness and ability to travel to client project sites locally on a regular basis.
- Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Prior construction experience
- OSHA training preferred.
- Current certifications from the ACI, NICET, ICC, and AWS organizations.
