STEM Teacher -Science, Engineering & Robotics | K–8 Focus
Woodmont STEAM Academy is seeking an innovative and hands-on STEM Teacher to serve students in grades K–8, with a primary focus on middle school science and engineering integration. This educator will deliver rigorous science instruction while leading the school’s robotics and engineering initiatives, bringing the STEAM vision to life through real-world application, design thinking, and problem-solving.
The ideal candidate is passionate about connecting science to engineering, technology, and innovation, and can create a learning environment where students actively build, design, test, and think critically.
Core ResponsibilitiesTeach standards-aligned science instruction for middle school students (with support or integration opportunities in elementary grades as needed)
Integrate the engineering design process into daily instruction
Lead and develop the school’s robotics program (instruction, clubs, competitions, showcases)
Facilitate hands-on, project-based learning experiences (building, coding, prototyping, experimentation)
Connect scientific concepts to real-world engineering applications
Collaborate with math, technology, and elective teachers to strengthen STEAM integration across grade levels
Manage and maintain STEM lab materials, tools, and equipment
Prepare students for science assessments while maintaining a strong focus on application and critical thinking
Support enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs, competitions, and showcases
Experience teaching middle school science
Background or strong interest in engineering, robotics, or applied sciences
Experience with robotics platforms such as:
LEGO Robotics
VEX Robotics
Arduino or similar systems
Knowledge of coding basics and STEM technology tools
Experience with project-based learning (PBL) and inquiry-based instruction
Ability to lead and coach student teams for STEM competitions
Strong classroom management and ability to engage diverse learners
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, STEM Education, or related field
Teaching certification in Science (grades K–8 or 6–8 preferred)
Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students
STEM certifications or robotics training (preferred but not required)
To develop innovative thinkers and problem-solvers by bridging science and engineering, empowering students to design, build, and apply knowledge in meaningful, real-world ways.
