Description:

PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To understand and have a working knowledge of all jobs within the Quality Department as well as the requirements to meet the department goals and plans. The CMM Operator is also responsible for assuring Customer and Company expectations are being satisfied throughout the manufacturing process at the Kingsville facility. Identify and implement continuous quality improvements through effective teamwork.

MAJOR TASKS:

• Read understand and follow safety instructions, process documentation, and related Quality or operations system documents.

• Work with part prints.

• Work with precision hand tools and gages.

• Ability to operate Coordinate Measuring Machine daily and troubleshoot:

o Probe Calibrations

o Shutdowns

o Minor Errors

• Inspect and fill out reports on production parts, machined samples and casting samples.

• Ability to read and interpret Customer Prints and Specifications.

• Pass along accurate information to production concerning customer quality requirements and ability to make accurate judgment calls based on this information.

• Ability to interpret CMM Reports, correlate them back to the blue print and assist production personnel with accurate moves required.

• Ability to read and interpret SPC data, communicate with production personnel when moves are required. Review data and evaluate “flyers” for cause and correct as needed.

• Ensure that all appropriate supplies and equipment are available to meet production requirements.

• Ensure that all inspection equipment and supplies are properly identified and stored in a safe, neat, and orderly fashion.

• Working with product and process specific Shift Leaders, Technicians, Manufacturing Engineers, and operators ensuring that customer requirements and specifications are clearly understood, defined and being followed.

• Inspect product and validate that processes are run per the established quality standards / specifications.

• Maintain daily reporting: Auditing, Quality Issues, Training Issues, etc.

• Must be willing to work split shifts as needed.

Requirements:

WORKER QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Ability to sit or stand for prolong periods.

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

• Ability to write legibly.

• Ability to read and interpret basics of Customer Blueprints and Specifications

• Good understanding of problem-solving techniques,

• Good understanding of Control Plans, Job Instructions and Gage Instructions

• Proficient in the use of word processors and spreadsheets.

• Ability to communicate in a professional manner.

• Minimum of High School Diploma or Equivalent.

• Knowledge of general math. Algebra and/or geometry helpful.

• Must possess a working knowledge of:

o Ability to read and interpret blueprints, customer specifications and APQP Documentation

o Maintenance of Quality Records

o Good communication skills both verbal and written

JOB SETTING:

• Work in a controlled environment and have to occasionally go out on the shop floor.

• Three shift operations may have to come in on off shifts, if needed.

• Working with other team members to ensure customer expectations are consistently met and maintained through process improvements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS ANALYSIS:

• Standing: Frequent to constant standing required, at times, during performance of job duties.

• Sitting: Prolong periods of sitting required, at times, during performance of job assignments.

• Bending: Occasional to frequent bending required during filing retrieving files/papers, operating and replenishing office equipment.

• Lifting: Occasional to frequent lifting of office materials, equipment, and product (i.e. folders, booklets, calculators, parts, etc.) weighing between 5–50 pounds.

• Carrying: Occasional to frequent carrying of office materials and equipment (i.e. folders, booklets, calculators, etc.) weighing between 5–30 pounds.

• Reaching: Occasional to frequent reaching at various heights and various distances in front, and in back, of body during performance of job duties (i.e. typing, keyboard work, placement and retrieval of books on bookshelves.)

• Hand Tasks: Flexibility and dexterity in hands to operate office equipment such as computers, typewriters, staplers, etc. Also, occasional power grasps to lift pieces of office equipment, folders, and cases of paper. Squeeze force of 1–10 pounds required.

• Seeing: Constant clear vision required for accurate data entry, calculations, operation of office equipment, and for reading and composition of various documents and notes.
