Lecturer / Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Information Technology

The Department of Intelligent Systems Engineering and Management (ISEM) invites applications for a full-time faculty position. The position will be filled at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor depending on qualifications. The primary teaching focus is the undergraduate B.S. in Information Systems and Information Technology (ISIT) program, with additional teaching responsibilities in the Master of Science in Information Systems Engineering and Management (ISEM) program. We seek a dedicated teaching professional who is passionate about student success, practical technology education, and contributing to a collaborative academic community.

About the Programs

The Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Information Technology (ISIT) offers an interdisciplinary curriculum combining Information Systems, Information Technology, and Computer Sciences. It prepares students with hands-on practical knowledge of today’s information systems and their underlying technologies, including computer hardware, networking components, mobile devices, and cloud/virtual environments. The program covers current practices in big data, mobile computing, virtualization, and cloud services, and prepares graduates for real-world industry roles such as Technical Support Analyst, Network Technician, Security Threat Analyst, and Web Developer. Students choose from the following concentrations:

  • IT Infrastructure and Networking and Operating Systems
  • Cloud Computing and Virtualization
  • The Master of Science in Information Systems Engineering and Management (ISEM) is a flexible, interdisciplinary graduate program that bridges business and technology through the lens of digital transformation. The program prepares students to plan, architect, integrate, and manage the next generation of smart digital enterprises. Faculty in this position may be assigned to teach graduate-level courses in areas aligned with their expertise. ISEM specialization areas include:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Business Intelligence and Analytics
  • Cloud Computing
  • Cybersecurity
  • Digital Transformation
  • Enterprise Architecture and Integration
  • Industry 4.0 and Smart Cities
  • Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will:

  • Teach primarily undergraduate courses in the B.S. ISIT program, with additional teaching in the M.S. ISEM program as assigned.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement across in-person, hybrid, and online modalities.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students throughout their academic journey.
  • Engage in scholarship, professional development, or applied practice appropriate to rank and role.
  • Participate in departmental, school, and university meetings and services.
  • Contribute to a collegial, inclusive, and student-centered academic environment.
  • QualificationsRequired:
  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field (minimum qualification for appointment at the Lecturer rank).
  • Demonstrated potential for or prior evidence of excellence in teaching.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to student success.
  • Preferred:
  • Terminal degree (Ph.D., Doctorate of Engineering, or equivalent) in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field; candidates with a terminal degree will be considered for appointment at the Assistant Professor rank or above.
  • Expertise in one or more areas such as information systems design and analysis, networking and security, cloud computing, database management, web technologies, operating systems, or enterprise architecture.
  • Experience teaching in online or hybrid environments.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, applied research, or professional practice.
  • Industry experience or professional certifications in relevant ISIT domains (e.g., CompTIA, AWS, Microsoft, Cisco).
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and real-world, applied research and problem solving.
