About Us
Fort George Community Services, Inc. was established in 1981 to provide comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and family engagement services to low-income children and families in our communities of Washington Heights and the Bronx.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a team-oriented Universal Pre-K (UPK) Teacher/Director to oversee daily program operations while providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This role combines classroom teaching responsibilities with administrative leadership, staff supervision, family engagement, and compliance management.

- Flexible Work Schedule - Full-Time (5 day) M-F with a schedule of 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

What We Are Seeking for the Universal Pre-K (UPK) Teacher/Director Role:
- Master's Degree and permanent B-2 or N-6 certification.
- Previous classroom experience required.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to pass a physical examination, background check, and fingerprint screen.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift a child weighing approximately 40 lbs., up to 20 times per day if needed.
- Ability to comfortably operate technology and computers.
Key Job Responsibilities of the Universal Pre-K (UPK) Teacher/Director Role:
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum activities.
- Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate teachers and assistant staff.
- Observe and assess children's learning progress.
- Ensure compliance with NYC DOH licensing regulations and DOE standards.
- Develop and maintain program policies and procedures.
- Ensure health, safety, and sanitation standards are maintained.
