Job Description

Electrical Engineer- Data Centers

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Electrical Engineer- Data Centers based in Netherlands.

This role provides the opportunity to shape the electrical infrastructure powering next-generation AI cloud environments.
You will bring critical electrical engineering expertise across data center acquisition, development, and construction readiness initiatives.
The position focuses on evaluating power systems, distribution strategies, and infrastructure feasibility for high-density AI workloads.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, energy, development, finance, and delivery functions.
This is a high-impact opportunity to establish technical standards and processes that enable scalable AI infrastructure growth.
You will work in a fast-paced, innovative environment where ownership, technical excellence, and independent problem-solving are essential.

Accountabilities:

As an Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the electrical engineering aspects of data center acquisition and development projects. You will evaluate power infrastructure feasibility, define electrical strategies, and help establish scalable technical frameworks that support future AI infrastructure expansion.

  • Lead electrical engineering evaluations for prospective data center sites, colocation opportunities, and build-to-suit projects.
  • Conduct electrical due diligence focused on power capacity, utility availability, distribution systems, and infrastructure readiness.
  • Define technical assumptions for power distribution topology, electrical capacity, redundancy strategies, and equipment selection.
  • Assess utility interconnection, on-site generation, UPS systems, and redundancy configurations including N, N+1, and 2N architectures.
  • Provide Go/No-Go recommendations based on electrical feasibility, technical risks, and project requirements.
  • Evaluate utility capacity, substation requirements, interconnection timelines, and infrastructure constraints affecting project delivery.
  • Analyze electrical equipment availability, lead times, vendor dependencies, and cost implications impacting schedules and budgets.
  • Partner with engineering teams to establish electrical design strategies, commissioning requirements, and technical readiness criteria.
  • Provide technical input on switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and electrical system configurations across candidate sites.
  • Ensure electrical design assumptions and commitments are accurately documented throughout the transition from acquisition to development.
  • Identify and resolve electrical risks before they impact construction timelines or project execution.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, utility providers, consultants, equipment suppliers, and commissioning partners to ensure successful delivery.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced electrical engineering professional with a strong background in mission-critical infrastructure and data center environments. You should be comfortable working independently, managing complex technical evaluations, and building processes in a rapidly evolving environment.

  • 8+ years of experience in data center electrical engineering, power systems design, or mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
  • Strong expertise in medium-voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, and utility interconnection.
  • Experience evaluating electrical feasibility for data center sites or facilities before commercial commitments.
  • Solid understanding of electrical capacity planning, redundancy architectures, equipment selection, and capital expenditure trade-offs.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale data centers, AI infrastructure, or other large-scale technology environments is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPMS/BMS controls integration and electrical system commissioning processes.
  • Experience with utility interconnection agreements and power infrastructure planning is a plus.
  • Experience evaluating colocation or build-to-suit electrical infrastructure through technical due diligence.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or similar professional certification is considered an advantage.
  • Strong communication and executive presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business decisions.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments while creating scalable technical processes.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Flexible remote working environment with strong ownership and autonomy.
  • Career development opportunities and continuous learning support.
  • Opportunity to contribute to large-scale AI infrastructure projects with global impact.
  • Collaborative international environment with highly skilled engineering teams.
  • Chance to define technical standards, evaluation frameworks, and processes for future infrastructure growth.
  • Innovative culture focused on trust, ownership, meaningful impact, and shaping the future of AI infrastructure.
