GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

This part-time position is responsible for ensuring accessible texts are available to students with that accommodation. Additionally, this position oversees the note taker accommodation -- managing requests from students, interacting with faculty and vetting/hiring note takers. Overseeing the note taker accommodation requires additional coordination of collecting invoices for the business office to process. Finally, this person helps triage students and faculty who seek help from Disability/Access Services, including proctoring exams for students with this accommodation.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In collaboration with the Associate Director of Disability/Access Services, locate and convert textbooks, course readings and ancillary materials into an accessible format
  • Coordinate all aspects of the notetaking accommodation for students with disabilities, including managing student requests, hiring student notetakers, and communicating with faculty
  • Provide support to students receiving the notetaking accommodation and work to find alternative solutions when necessary
  • Assist in proctoring tests and exams for students with accommodations
  • Advise students on assistive technology
  • Provide academic coaching to students with disabilities
  • Triage traffic in Disability/Access Services, working with faculty and students alike
  • Ensure ADA and Section 504 compliance through all interactions with students
  • Accountable for ensuring that equal opportunity, equity, and inclusion are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility


Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work or related field
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities from diverse backgrounds
  • Understanding or willingness to learn about accessible course materials.
  • Ability to develop relationships with students and work collaboratively with faculty

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment


Additional Information:

This is a part-time, non-benefited contract position, not to exceed 18 hours per week. The scheduled hours are flexible. The position works for 44 weeks per year. The pay rate is $35-38/hour.
