Job Description

Description:

The primary responsibility of the Utility Shipper / Receiver position is to package and ship all outgoing material and for the receipt of all incoming material. May act in a lead or training role and will perform under minimum supervision. Responsibilities captioned below are considered essential functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Adhere to established safety procedures and 5”S” standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts
  • Verify that all materials received are in accordance with documentation, weighing/counting parts as necessary to ensure vendor accuracy
  • Coordinate with the appropriate departments to assure the shipping and receiving requirements are met
  • Distribute material or packages to appropriate departments and prepare rejected material for return to vendor
  • Communicate the status of material to Purchasing Department
  • Monitor, coordinate and maintain inventory minimum/maximum levels at all warehouses by utilizing the website to confirm the number of skids required for shipment on a daily basis
  • Work closely with Logistics and Quality Control and Assembly line Supervisors to achieve timely coordination of paperwork and monitor parts that come in to re-route to different vendors if necessary
  • Responsible for providing support in bottleneck areas to keep shipments moving and to assure maximum efficiency
  • Create all necessary bills of laden and other clerical documents to assure loads are complete to verify accurate payment
  • Maintain all shipping supply inventory; i.e., skids, boxes, pallets, tape, etc.; prepares all orders for submission to Supervisor
  • Coordinate vendor shipping containers by restacking the returned quantities and reissuing reusable plastic totes and trays
  • Meet customer demands
  • Most product needs paperwork turned in Monday and Tuesdays to make shipments on time
  • Prepare labels for the Hart Center
  • Pull pitman arm schedule
  • Pull customer schedule & orders
  • Re-skid miters and pack
  • Answer door and direct truckers with instruction
  • Always double verify orders are correct before leaving
  • Take pictures for certain customer shipments
  • Ship out all MSO orders on top of regular customer orders
  • Unload trucks
  • Pack orders to customer’s specifications
  • Staying late/overtime to complete customer orders
  • All pieces shipping out must have warning labels on/warning labeling everything
  • Other duties as assigned

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases. Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions. Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Demonstrates leadership qualities, be self-motivated and self-disciplined

SCHEDULE:

  • 8-hour Day Shift Monday through Friday

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • One year of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in shipping/receiving in a production/manufacturing environment
  • Completion of forklift certification
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles
  • Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekends
