Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Coordinates all travel for BBAHC patients scheduled to receive medical care at the nearest appropriate BBAHC facility and/or higher level of care referred by a BBAHC provider. Provides and reviews required documentation assisting patients and their provider through completion of travel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

l . High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Three (3) years prior experience working in a healthcare environment. Prior experience working with a Third-Party Administrator (TPA) such as Alaska Medicaid, or in the travel industry preferred. Yup' ik speaking preferred.

  1. Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy Rule; knowledge of State, Federal and Tribal Health Care Programs including but not limited to public/private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare.

Additional Qualifications, Level Il:

  1. Associates degree in Business, Finance, or other health related field preferred. Two (2) years of experience as a Level I Coordinator or demonstrated proficiency. Prior related work experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis for college education.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

l . Coordinates all patient travel arrangements within BBAHC Travel Policies and third-party payer policies to include but not limited to air and ground transportation, lodging and meals for patients and escorts (if applicable) referred to medical care by BBAHC provider for travel in-region and out-of-region.

  1. Collaborates with other members of the team department, and other departments within the Corporation including but not limited to Outreach & Enrollment, Case Management, Inpatient/ER, Outpatient, Central Schedulers/Registration, Optometry, Audiology, Diabetes, Dental and CHAP Clinics.
  2. Utilizes multiple computer systems to gather information and document within all software applications to include but not limited to SharePoint, FileShare, Cerner, AFHCAN, and Workflow.
  3. Manages logs for all Medicaid vouchers and BBAHC lodging and meal cards.
  4. Prepares and submits invoices/claims and other documentation for travel reimbursement for patients with alternate health resources offering travel benefits. Monitors and tracks reimbursement requests until completed.
