Job Description

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician 1-2 to assist our Molecular Analysis team at Taconic Biosciences! Do you have a passion for problem solving, innovative science, and teamwork? If so, this opportunity is for you!

The Location: Rensselaer, NY. This is a full-time, on-site position.

The Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2pm-10:30pm. This shift would qualify for our shift differential.

The Role: Assist in the daily operations of the laboratory by preparing samples and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Perform laboratory functions with supervisor guidance, including sample processing, data recording, and inventory management. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow established procedures, and a willingness to learn. Sample testing must be performed in accordance with approved procedures, with complete and accurate documentation maintained to support quality assurance requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in the receipt, preparation, and organization of incoming samples.
  • Perform basic laboratory testing under supervision, including sample receiving, logging, processing, testing, and reporting results.
  • Operate laboratory equipment used for sample processing and testing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment while adhering to established safety procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of supplies, reagents, and samples.
  • Receive and store samples according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Follow detailed instructions and standard laboratory protocols accurately and consistently.
  • Manage individual workload effectively to ensure quality results are delivered in a timely manner with minimal rework or retesting.
  • Accurately document laboratory activities and maintain records in accordance with quality assurance standards.

Education Requirements:

  • Associate degree in a biological science field or equivalent technical training.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in assignments requiring previous training to perform operations where established guidelines are provided.
  • Up to 2 years of relevant laboratory experience and/or training.
  • Ability to write standard business correspondence and laboratory documentation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Strong listening skills with the ability to understand and consider others' perspectives.
  • Level is determined based on skills relevant to the role
