Position Description:

The Building Maintenance Mechanic/ Technician engages in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, small tools and equipment, insuring the continuous operation of the production facility.

Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme weather/ harsh temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in most areas of the facility, so attention must be given to signage communicating otherwise. Personal Perfective Equipment required for this position is a (company provided) hard hat, safety glasses, reflective vest, and (employee provided) steel-toed work boots.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

• Reporting to: Associate Manager of Maintenance

• Direct Reports: N/A

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDES AND NOT EXCLUSIVE TO THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Wear and maintain personal protective equipment at all times while strictly adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  2. Understand, follow and promote all company policies and procedures.
  3. Clean and prepare work sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  4. Read instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.
  5. Work on utility systems as directed to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, and pneumatic power operations.
  6. Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic problems as needed.
  7. Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  8. Perform preventative maintenance activities.
  9. Use equipment, power tools, and hands tools as designed and in a safe and effective manner.
  10. Perform other job functions duties as directed by Maintenance Supervisor in a safe and effective manner.

Position Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Education - High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  2. Experience - 1 to 3 years mechanical or technical related experience with an emphasis in troubleshooting preferred.
  3. Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals preferred.
  4. Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, simple drawings, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, and leadership preferred.
  5. Valid Driver’s License required to drive company truck to offsite locations.
