Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician, Clinical Program Support serves as a member of the Clinical Pharmacy Team and provides operational and inventory management services for pharmacy-related programs and initiatives across Element Care PACE centers and alternative care sites. The incumbent participates in the Element Care Urgent Care (ECUC) Program, including Mobile Medication Kits and Site Stock, as well as Emergency Stock management, medication and EMR inventory maintenance, reporting activities, and other Clinical Pharmacy initiatives. This role helps ensure operational readiness, inventory integrity, regulatory compliance, and efficient pharmacy workflows while enabling pharmacists to focus on direct clinical services, medication management, and participant care.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Participates in pharmacy-related programs, projects, and operational initiatives.
- Assists with monitoring pharmacy reports, work queues, recommendation acceptance tracking, provider tasking workflows, and operational follow-up activities.
- Maintains operational readiness of Mobile Medication Kits, Emergency Stock, and Site Stock inventories.
- Coordinates kit exchanges, replenishment activities, inventory reconciliation, documentation, and tracking.
- Monitors inventory levels, expiration dates, lot numbers, and medication storage requirements.
- Assists pharmacists with inventory audits, documentation activities, inventory builds, program expansion activities, and new center go-live support.
- Receives medication shipments from contracted pharmacy vendors and performs shipment verification within vendor systems.
- Investigates and follows up on discrepancies, missing items, damaged products, and backorders.
- Secures medications according to organizational policies and procedures and coordinates replacement of expired, damaged, compromised, or utilized inventory.
- Maintains medication inventory records within the EMR and other approved systems.
- Updates lot numbers, expiration dates, inventory locations, and kit assignments.
- Maintains pharmacy-related workflows, templates, tasking processes, and inventory tracking tools.
- Identifies and escalates system issues impacting inventory management or pharmacy-related workflows.
- Quarantines potentially compromised medications and coordinates medication destruction activities in accordance with policy.
- Collaborates with approved pharmaceutical waste vendors and participates in inventory-related regulatory readiness activities.
- Assists with annual influenza vaccine distribution activities, nursing medication orientation programs, and routine site visits.
- Frequent local travel.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Specification:
- Valid Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Board in good standing and maintained throughout employment.
- Minimum of three (3) years of pharmacy technician experience.
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and Microsoft Office experience.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required; ability to travel routinely between Element Care sites and alternative care locations.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) preferred.
- COVID vaccinated preferred.
