Feedmill Operator, Night Shift (Scott City, KS)

As a Feedmill Operator on the night shift, you will receive hands-on training in all areas of the manufacturing process while working under the direct supervision of the Nightshift Leadman and Plant Manager. This role supports daily production by serving as a relief operator for mixer and pellet mill operators during breaks, absences, vacations, and other scheduled or unscheduled time off. You will also assist the Nightshift Leadman in keeping operations running safely, efficiently, and smoothly throughout the shift, and may serve as a backup lead when needed.
This position provides training and experience across overall production, bagging quality assurance, pellet mill quality assurance, mixing quality assurance, light maintenance, and routine inspections as assigned by management. You will work alongside a culturally diverse team in all production areas of the plant. As part of a Safe Feed/Safe Food certified facility, you will help support quality control and quality assurance processes. Daily duties may vary based on production needs and changing business conditions.
Base Hourly Range: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour (not including a shift differential, +$2.00 hourly rate)
Hours: 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and adjust feedmill equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation.
- Follow established procedures to ensure the production of high-quality animal feed.
- Maintain accurate records of feedmill production and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management.
- Participate in daily safety meetings.
- Perform daily production tasks.
- Serve as relief Operator for pelleting and mixer operators.
- Help with all scheduled bagging.
- Bring ingredients from building as needed.
- Weigh in and out outgoing trucks as needed.
- Load and unload trucks as needed.
- Help shift workers on housekeeping and maintenance projects assigned by leadman.
- Help pellet mill and mixer operators to keep production running as efficiently as possible.
- Serve as a backup to the Nightshift Leadman, performing his daily duties in his absence.
- Follow and make sure all safety rules are followed by all employees on their shift.
- Other duties may be assigned by nightshift Leadman and/or Operations Manager.
Requirements:
- Must be able to drive a forklift and a front-end loader.
- Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to lifting (up to 70 pounds), bending, standing, climbing, or walking.
- Must be able to work in dusty, dirty, wet, and noisy conditions.
- Must be able to use hand tools and power tools.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and climb ladders.
- Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a drug test and background check.
- Valid documentation to work in the U.S.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to learn and be an essential part of the production team.
- Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate equipment.
- Requires frequent heavy lifting up to 70 lbs.
- Candidates must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- Candidates must have valid documentation to be able to work in the U.S.
