Position Summary
The Material Handler/ Warehouse Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and staging of raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout our manufacturing facility. This role supports production operations by ensuring the right materials are in the right place at the right time, while maintaining an organized, safe, and compliant warehouse environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and takes pride in keeping a clean and well-organized facility.
Key Responsibilities
Material Movement & Staging
- Receive, unload, and verify incoming shipments of raw materials, components, and supplies against purchase orders and packing slips
- Inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies and report findings to the Warehouse Supervisor
- Stage materials and subassemblies at designated production line locations according to build schedules
- Transport materials throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment
- Load and stage outbound shipments including finished vehicles, parts orders, and vendor returns
- Transfer materials between warehouse locations, staging areas, and production cells as directed
Inventory & Organization
- Maintain accurate inventory records by scanning, logging, and confirming material movements in the ERP system
- Perform daily, weekly, and periodic cycle counts; report and reconcile discrepancies
- Organize and maintain warehouse storage locations, ensuring materials are properly labeled and stored
- Dispose of packaging materials, scrap, and waste in accordance with company procedures
- Assist with annual physical inventory counts
- Identify and report damaged, obsolete, or excess inventory to the Warehouse Supervisor
Safety & Compliance
- Operate all material handling equipment in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with OSHA standards and company policies
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, aisles, and staging zones at all times
- Participate in daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and required safety training
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, near-misses, or incidents to the Warehouse Supervisor
- Follow all PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and hazardous material handling guidelines
Production Support
- Collaborate with production leads to anticipate material needs and prevent line stoppages
- Assist with kitting of components and hardware packages for build orders
- Support the Parts department with pick, pack, and ship operations during peak periods as needed
- Communicate shortages, damages, or delivery delays to supervisors in a timely manner
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment
- Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire (training provided)
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance
- Basic math and reading skills sufficient to verify parts counts, labels, and shipping documents
- Reliable, punctual, and able to perform consistent physical labor throughout a full shift
- Familiarity with basic warehouse safety practices and OSHA standards
Preferred Experience
- Experience operating sit-down and stand-up forklifts, reach trucks and other material handling equipment.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or specialty vehicle environment
- Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory transactions
- Experience with cycle counting and inventory control procedures
- Ability to read and interpret build sheets, BOMs (bills of materials), or work orders
Contingencies of Employment
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and physical examination
- Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, if applicable to the position
