About the Role:
The Training Specialist will primarily focus on developing and delivering effective training for shop floor employees and other identified employees as needed. In addition, the Training and Safety Specialist will be responsible for shop-floor safety including audits, corrective action, and other safety related requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Develop training materials for JIT training, annual, or as determined. This will include Word, PowerPoint, and other multi-media. Training content may cover work procedures, safety, quality, work skills, or other topics pertinent to the job or organizational development.
- In conjunction with the HR Manager and Training Manager develop an annual training calendar for all areas of the organization.
- Work with supervisors and managers to determine training needs and develop short and long-term strategies to ensure employee capabilities. This may include refresher training of current personnel.
- As needed/requested:
- Evaluate employee performance to gauge where skills are lacking.
- Create training programs to address skill gaps in employees.
- Develop innovative ways to ensure training is consistent, dynamic, and effective.
- Train new hires and other internal personnel on basic to intermediate job skills.
- Develop training processes and policies that clarify the intent and desired outcomes of training.
- Ensure their training methods and style are effective and up to date. This includes self-assessment, feedback from others, researching teaching methods, and attending educational training sessions.
- Wheeling site LMS Administrator and Ambassador.
- Inspect the facility to identify safety risks.
- Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
- Develop safety procedures for all areas of the Wheeling site.
- Prepare and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
- Monitor compliance with safety procedures.
- Draft inspection reports to document inspection findings.
- Ensure that online safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
Requirements/ Skills:
- Experience using CNC equipment and knowledge of manufacturing policies and practices.
- 2+ years previous experience teaching technical knowledge to adults.
- 2+ years in a manufacturing machining environment.
- Experience in safety and related regulations
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Previous experience using instructional design models (ADDIE).
- Prefer at least 10-hour OSHA certified candidates.
- Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, and/or CNC Certifications a plus.
- Swiss Lathe experience is a plus.
- Critical Competencies: Technical CNC Training Experience, Patience, Directing Others,
- Problem Solving, Composure, and Listening.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing during training sessions and sitting at a desk working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift fifteen pounds at times.
- Ability to frequently walk through the manufacturing facility.
