This is a senior leadership role responsible for building and scaling a modern, data-driven collections function within a fast-growing digital financial services environment. You will own the end-to-end collections lifecycle across multiple lending products, ensuring strong recovery performance while protecting customer relationships and brand trust. Acting at the intersection of operations, credit risk, compliance, and technology, you will design strategies that balance financial performance with a highly empathetic client experience. The role requires a builder mindset, as you will establish frameworks, tools, and teams that define how collections operates at scale. You will also play a key role in shaping AI-enabled collections strategies, leveraging automation and analytics to improve outcomes. This is a high-impact position where operational excellence directly influences credit performance, regulatory standing, and customer retention.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the end-to-end collections strategy across multiple lending products, including credit cards, lines of credit, and other consumer lending portfolios.
  • Design and optimize the full collections lifecycle, from pre-delinquency engagement through early-stage recovery, hardship programs, settlements, charge-off, and post-charge-off recovery.
  • Lead and develop collections teams, setting performance standards and ensuring high-quality, compliant, and empathetic customer interactions.
  • Define and manage collections policies, controls, and operational frameworks to ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
  • Partner with Data Science, Risk, Finance, Legal, and Engineering to develop data-driven segmentation, forecasting, and recovery strategies.
  • Oversee key performance metrics including recovery rates, roll rates, cost to collect, and delinquency trends, driving continuous improvement.
  • Lead vendor and third-party collections agency relationships, including selection, performance management, and compliance oversight.
  • Shape AI and automation initiatives to improve collections efficiency, engagement timing, and customer outcomes.
  • Ensure all collections processes align with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards across Canadian jurisdictions.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in collections, credit risk, or loan servicing within financial services or fintech environments.
  • Strong expertise in unsecured consumer lending products such as credit cards, personal loans, or lines of credit.
  • Proven experience building or scaling collections operations, including team leadership and process design.
  • Deep understanding of collections metrics, credit performance indicators, and financial risk frameworks.
  • Experience working in regulated environments with knowledge of Canadian financial or collections regulations.
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience partnering with data science or analytics teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving Risk, Finance, Compliance, and Engineering.
  • Experience managing third-party collections agencies and vendor relationships.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build high-performing, customer-focused teams.
  • Interest in leveraging AI and automation to modernize and improve collections processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation with performance-based incentives
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Retirement savings plan with employer contributions
  • Paid vacation, wellness days, and flexible sick/mental health leave
  • Fully remote-friendly work model across Canada
  • Access to learning, development, and leadership growth opportunities
  • Strong emphasis on innovation, including AI-driven tools and modern technology stacks
  • Inclusive, collaborative culture with cross-functional exposure
  • Opportunity to shape a critical function within a high-growth financial organization.
