Description/Summary
The MRO buyer represents the company and is responsible for the purchases of goods and services used in maintenance, equipment, building, office, and production in a manufacturing environment. The MRO buyer must be able to determine the best supplier, value and delivery for these products and services. This position requires regular interaction with manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, quality, and all other functional staff to know what supplies are required, and by when.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the requisitions and purchasing for MRO goods and services while considering cost effective and alternate solutions.
- Ensure appropriate approval is provided with the requisition, following current Delegation of Authority requirements.
- Reference requisition, BOM, technical data, prints, catalogs, previous history to obtain specifications and historical price.
- Facilitate bids, analysis and negotiations for MRO goods and services.
- Find best product for the most competitive cost (not only price
- Negotiate pricing, delivery, terms, and conditions.
- Manage and assist in negotiation of contracts for VMI material.
- Target purchase price to be equal or less than historical (standard)
- Purchase from approved vendor where required.
- Assure technical data and pertinent information is properly flowed down to supplier at time of quote and purchase.
- Consult with requestor when questions arise.
- Assure that the acquisition of all goods and services will meet requirements.
- Assess purchase orders for accuracy and compliance with requirements.
- Communicate to requestor essential information and report on progress.
- Electronically save requisition, quote, PO, and any other pertinent information following save protocol.
- First point of contact for price and invoice queries related to MRO.
- Be proactive and willing to provide other general support.
- Frequently review ageing PO’s and disposition accordingly
- Assure MSC cabinets are stocked and are running properly.
- Ensure tool crib is adequately stocked.
- Managed conflict and effectively communicate.
- Submit monthly credit card report by deadline.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Education, Certifications, Licenses, & Registrations
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and three-five years of professional buying experience in a manufacturing setting and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
