Our Patient Service Representatives are often the first and last impression of our organization and play an essential role in creating an exceptional patient experience.

We are currently seeking a dependable, flexible, and service-focused PRN Patient Service Representative to help support our front office teams across our three Albuquerque locations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, adapts easily to changing needs, and is willing to step in where support is needed most.

Position Summary

The PRN Patient Service Representative provides front office coverage based on the staffing and operational needs of WSNM. Responsibilities include patient check-in and check-out, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, payment collection, and other daily front office functions.

Because this is a PRN coverage position, dependability, flexibility, and the ability to work at any of our three locations are essential to the role. Work location and scheduled hours may vary based on staffing needs, employee absences, vacations, and other coverage requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Welcome every patient with warmth, professionalism, and empathy.
  • Create a caring, supportive, and positive experience for every patient and visitor.
  • Check patients in and out accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Schedule appointments, recalls, and follow-up visits.
  • Collect copayments and outstanding patient balances.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record and practice management system.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures while maintaining a clean, welcoming reception area.
  • Protect patient privacy by following HIPAA requirements and organizational policies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, clinical staff, and other team members.
  • Work collaboratively with teammates to support patient care and front office operations.
  • Participate in cross-training to provide effective coverage at different locations and front office positions.
  • Travel between WSNM locations and provide coverage where assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support front office and patient care operations.

About This PRN Opportunity

This is a PRN position, meaning hours are based on the staffing needs of the organization and are not guaranteed. PRN team members may be asked to provide coverage for planned time off, unexpected absences, staffing shortages, and other operational needs.

Candidates should be comfortable with a schedule that may vary from week to week and with working at any of our three WSNM locations. Consistent availability, dependability, flexibility, and a willingness to help where needed are important to success in this position.

Requirements:

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in a medical office, healthcare, hospitality, or customer service setting.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule based on PRN staffing needs.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work at all three WSNM locations.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic medical record systems.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Preferred

  • Previous OB/GYN or specialty medical practice experience.
  • Experience with insurance verification, scheduling, and patient collections.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
