Job Description

Internal Communications, Director (Individual Contributor)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Internal Communications, Director (Individual Contributor) based in United States.

This is a senior-level individual contributor role responsible for shaping how employees understand, connect with, and act on company strategy and priorities. You’ll own the internal communications narrative and cadence across a fast-growing, globally distributed organization. The role combines executive communications, company-wide storytelling, employee engagement, and change communications. You’ll lead high-visibility moments such as All Hands while developing modern, multi-channel and video-first communication programs. You’ll work closely with executives and cross-functional leaders to make complex messages clear, compelling, and memorable. This role offers significant influence over employee alignment, culture, and how important company moments are communicated internally.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the strategy and execution of the internal communications program, keeping employees informed, aligned, and engaged through company updates, organizational changes, and major announcements.
  • Lead the planning, narrative development, and production of All Hands and other company-wide forums, from executive talking points through live or recorded delivery.
  • Build and expand video communications capabilities, producing executive updates, milestone recaps, and storytelling content that effectively communicate company priorities.
  • Develop new and engaging ways to reach employees by continuously evolving communication channels, formats, and cadence beyond one-off announcements.
  • Manage internal communication channels including Slack, email, and video, ensuring messaging is targeted, timely, consistent, and relevant to different employee audiences.
  • Draft and refine communications for executives, including CEO and leadership messages, talking points, presentations, and briefing materials.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications, Legal, People teams, and other stakeholders to develop proactive and reactive communication strategies for sensitive, high-stakes, or business-critical situations.
  • Maintain internal-first communication alignment so employees receive important company news before or alongside external audiences, with consistent messaging across channels.
  • Establish employee feedback and listening mechanisms such as surveys, pulse checks, and forums to measure sentiment and communication effectiveness.
  • Use employee insights and communication data to continuously improve internal programs, formats, and engagement strategies.
  • Build trusted relationships with executives, People leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders, serving as a strategic advisor on internal messaging, executive communications, and change management.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in internal, corporate, or executive communications, ideally within a high-growth organization.
  • Proven experience producing All Hands and other executive forums, including narrative development, executive preparation, and live or recorded delivery.
  • Hands-on experience developing video communications and modern, multi-channel employee engagement programs.
  • Strong executive presence with demonstrated experience advising and writing for C-suite leaders.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn complex, sensitive, or strategic priorities into clear, compelling, and memorable communications.
  • Experience supporting crisis, issues, organizational change, or other high-stakes communications in partnership with Legal and Corporate Communications teams.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • Comfort using AI-enabled tools to support communications development, content creation, and analysis, combined with sound judgment around appropriate use.
  • Ability to operate independently as a senior individual contributor while influencing executives and cross-functional stakeholders.

Benefits:

  • Remote position available across the United States.
  • Compensation range of $181,000–$214,000 USD, depending on location and factors such as education, experience, and certifications.
  • Potential eligibility for restricted stock units depending on the role and compensation structure.
  • Health, pharmacy, vision, and dental benefits, subject to eligibility requirements.
  • Paid time off and sick time off.
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • Life insurance.
  • 401(k) contributions, subject to eligibility requirements.
  • Opportunity to influence internal communications, executive storytelling, employee engagement, and company-wide alignment at a senior level.
