Position Summary

The Nursing Quality Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting and advancing quality assurance, continuous improvement, and accreditation compliance within the associate degree in the science of nursing (ASN) and Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) programs. The Quality Program Coordinator ensures that academic, clinical, and regulatory standards are met while promoting excellence in nursing education and student outcomes. Teaching expectations vary based on quality and accreditation workload demands.

Department Summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master's degree in nursing with maintenance of expertise in area of responsibility.
    • If the individual does not hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, their master’s degree or other professional degree, including but not limited to a Ph.D., must be in nursing.
  • Preferred doctorate degree from an accredited college or university OR required to obtain within five years of hire.
  • Current active unencumbered OBN or multistate license to practice registered nursing.
  • Previous teaching experience in a professional nursing education program, preferred.
  • Expected to meet the faculty requirements of the discipline.
  • Experience for two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.

  • Proficient with Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards of quality and accreditation.
  • Proficient with nursing specific program accreditation agencies.

Responsibilities & Expectations

  1. Quality Assurance & Compliance
    • Coordinate program evaluation activities in alignment with accreditation standards (e.g., ACEN, OBN).
    • Monitor compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations.
    • Maintain documentation and evidence for accreditation reviews and site visits.
    • Assist in preparing annual reports for accrediting bodies and internal audits.
  1. Data Collection & Analysis
    • Collect, track, and analyze program data (e.g., NCLEX pass rates, graduation rates, job placement rates, and student learning outcomes).
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to inform program decisions.
    • Identify trends and recommend quality improvement initiatives.
  1. Program Evaluation & Improvement
    • Lead systematic program evaluation processes.
    • Collaborate with faculty to assess course and program outcomes.
    • Support curriculum review and revision based on data and best practices.
    • Facilitate continuous quality improvement.
  1. Faculty & Staff Support
    • Train faculty on assessment tools, data entry, and evaluation processes.
    • Provide guidance on meeting accreditation and quality standards.
    • Support college committees related to curriculum and program evaluation.
  1. Policy Development
    • Develop, review, and update policies and procedures related to program quality and compliance.
    • Ensure policies align with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  1. Teaching Responsibilities
    • Maintain a regular workload assigned by program director or dean.
    • Responsibilities may include developing and delivering course content, preparing instructional materials, evaluating student performance, maintaining accurate academic records, providing student guidance, and participating in curriculum development and program assessment activities.

  • Each administrator, staff, and faculty member is expected to understand, value, prioritize, and communicate assessment as a critical institutional practice. Everyone has a responsibility to support the culture of assessment with behaviors that facilitate and sustain practices.
    • Understand data collection/reporting obligations.
    • Represent the Division of Nursing on Institutional Effectiveness Committee and Assessment Committee.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional irregular hours and travel.
  • Provide timely response to externally/internally imposed conditions and deadlines.

Hazardous Exposure Category

Category II - Includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues by exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate protective measures will be readily available to every employee engaged in Category II tasks.
