This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Benefits Analyst based in the United States.
This is a fully remote opportunity for a benefits professional with the expertise to manage complex health and welfare programs in a large organization.
You will serve as a subject matter expert across benefit plans, compliance, vendor relationships, reporting, and employee education.
The role combines benefits administration, data analysis, HR technology, project coordination, and continuous process improvement.
You will work closely with HR, IT, carriers, consultants, and third-party vendors to ensure accurate and efficient benefit operations.
Your work will directly support employees by making benefit programs easier to understand, access, and use.
You’ll also help maintain regulatory compliance, improve integrations, strengthen data accuracy, and support major initiatives such as Open Enrollment.
This role is ideal for a proactive, analytical professional who can independently solve complex issues while building strong stakeholder relationships.
- Serve as a subject matter expert across health, life, disability, retirement savings, wellness, voluntary benefits, and spending account programs.
- Manage the benefits compliance calendar and coordinate required activities to ensure deadlines and regulatory obligations are met.
- Monitor regulatory and legal developments, assess their potential impact, and develop recommendations and actions to maintain compliance.
- Develop and coordinate benefits and wellness communications, educational materials, presentations, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Explain benefit programs and policies clearly to employees at all organizational levels and resolve complex, non-routine benefits questions.
- Support benefits-related projects, including planning, implementation, change management, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner with third-party vendors and internal IT teams to manage system requirements, integrations, electronic files, and data exchanges.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Workday benefits configuration, vendor integrations, and new benefit program implementations, working with HR technology teams to maintain accurate setup.
- Troubleshoot integration issues and oversee system enhancements or changes to ensure data integrity and accurate plan administration.
- Audit enrollment records against carrier data, investigate discrepancies, coordinate corrections, and follow issues through to resolution.
- Review benefit invoices and payroll deductions for accuracy, ensuring premiums and employee deductions align with enrollment and contractual requirements.
- Lead or support improvements to the benefits onboarding experience, ensuring new employees understand available plans, enrollment processes, and resources.
- Coordinate Open Enrollment activities, including plan renewals, communications, documentation updates, carrier integration changes, workflow testing, and reporting.
- Prepare reports and perform data analysis to support business decisions, audits, benefits administration, and ad hoc requests.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, harmonize processes, and prevent recurring issues by investigating root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Collaborate with consultants, benefit vendors, and administrators to evaluate plan utilization and recommend program improvements.
- At least 4 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 2 years directly related to benefits administration and responsibilities comparable to this role.
- Prior experience and working knowledge of Workday, particularly benefits-related functionality, payroll deductions, integrations, and basic reporting.
- Experience with benefits administration systems and services.
- Experience delivering virtual benefits presentations, benefits fairs, or employee onboarding sessions.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation is preferred.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and manipulation of data across different formats.
- Working knowledge of group insurance administration and processing across both self-insured and fully insured plans.
- Experience overseeing HRIS configuration, system interfaces, implementations, and change management for HR technology or new benefits programs.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with IT, technical teams, internal stakeholders, consultants, and external vendors.
- Strong benefits compliance knowledge and ability to understand and apply complex regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Strong data analysis, reporting, project coordination, and process improvement capabilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits information in clear, accessible language.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, confident, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to take initiative and work with limited direction.
- Strong customer-service mindset and ability to build positive relationships with employees and stakeholders.
- Ability to handle sensitive health and personal information with discretion and in accordance with HIPAA and other applicable requirements.
- Base salary range of $65,478–$96,885.29 per year, with individual compensation determined by factors including role level, location, skills, experience, and education or training.
- Eligibility for an annual bonus plan with a 10% target.
