Job Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgical Trauma PCU/Burn Unit - Full-time, 7P

Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1304 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

Work hours: Full-time, 36 hours weekly, 3-12 hours shifts, 6:45 pm - 7:15 am

Position requires 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. Team members may be placed on call for regularly scheduled shifts in response to census fluctuations.

Department highlights:

• Justin 5 is a 26-bed Surgical Trauma Progressive Care (PCU) and Burn Unit. 18 beds are for Surgical Trauma or Burn PCU patients and 8 beds are for Med-Tele Burn Patients. This unit provides higher-acuity surgical trauma and burn care, including treatment in a dedicated hydrotherapy procedure room for the burn population. Although patient populations differ, this is one integrated unit, and staff are expected to work across both care areas.

• Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team

• Nurse to patient ratio 1: 3-4

Here's What You Need
  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS - prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • ACLS - within 90 days of hire required
  • TNCC or ATCN - within 12 months of hire preferred
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
  • PCU and/or Critical Care experience preferred
  • Will consider ED experience
  • Burn unit experience a plus

In addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will
  • demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients
  • possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
  • have basic computer skills using medical management application systems

What You Will Do

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• assesses the patient
• plans the care of the patient
• intervenes as appropriate
• evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
