About the Role
Requirements:
As a Food Prep Cook in our airport lounge, you'll prepare high-quality food for guests traveling through the terminal. You'll work from standardized recipes and production plans, keep your station clean and safe, and work closely with the culinary team to keep service running smoothly. Precision, consistency, and attention to food safety are central to this role.
Responsibilities- Prepare food items according to standardized recipes and production plans
- Execute batch cooking using proper tools and measurements (scales, scoops, etc.)
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation throughout the shift and at close
- Accurately complete food safety and quality (FSQ) logs in real time
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations
- Monitor waste and assist with waste log tracking for quality and cost control
- Communicate shortages, discrepancies, or quality concerns to leadership
- Collaborate with Prep Cooks, Helpers, and culinary team members to meet production needs
- Keep the dish area clean, organized, and stocked, and put clean items away in their proper places
Requirements:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a cook in a restaurant, hotel, catering, or similar food service environment
- Flexible, open availability. Must be able to work any day of the week, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as airport lounge operations run on varied schedules
- Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices
- Ability to follow recipes and production plans accurately and consistently
- Comfortable using kitchen scales, scoops, portioning tools, and standard kitchen equipment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to stay organized and efficient in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to commute daily to IAH Airport
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
- Must be able to obtain and maintain airport security clearance and credentials, including a background check
- Food handler certification required
