Job Description

Experiential Learning Associate I, Part-Time (Central Branch- Two Positions)

The Lexington Public Library (LPL) is a dynamic organization that strives to educate, entertain, and connect all people who live, work, or play in the greater Lexington area. To keep LPL progressing forward, the Experiential Learning Associate I assists with the day-to-day responsibilities of the experiential learning spaces. This includes implementing and facilitating hands-on programming for community makers of all ages.

Starting Hourly Pay

$18.78

Primary Work Schedule

Schedules alternate weekly.

Position One

First Week: Wednesday, 11am-5pm. Thursday, 11:30am-7pm. Friday, 10:30am-6pm.

Second Week: Wednesday and Thursday, 11:30am-7pm. Saturday, 9:30am-4:30pm

Position may require occasional changes in schedule.

Position Two

First Week: Monday and Tuesday, 11:30am-7pm. Wednesday, 1pm-7pm.

Second Week: Monday and Tuesday, 11:30am-7pm. Saturday, 9:30am-4:30pm

Position may require occasional changes in schedule.

As a Part-time Experiential Learning Associate I, a typical day may include the following…

  • Assists in the day-to-day responsibilities of the experiential learning spaces.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment in our experiential learning spaces.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by instructing and assisting customers with software and equipment.
  • Organize and oversee the use of supplies, tools and materials used in experiential learning spaces.
  • Implement and facilitate hands-on programming for makers of all ages.
  • Collaborate with supervisor to enhance programs.
  • Maintain interdepartmental relationships and seek new ways for these spaces to serve as a resource to other library departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Outlook and Word.

  • Must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, with a safe driving record and reliable transportation.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to sit and operate a computer for extended periods.
  • Sufficient mobility and dexterity to lift and carry books and other library materials.
